After yet another disappointing SU8 release, especially for VR users, a theory has been born in my mind that after being forced to “optimize” the code for the infamous SU5 release resulting with the still mournfully remembered significant degradation in general quality of the Sim, many developers have lost their love for their product and thus the motivation to fix it effectively. What do you guys think about that?
If you are of a similar impression, do you think there is still hope that someday the releases will just improve things and not introduce so many regressions?
My experience to date has been much more positive than what you say above, but off course I have suffered from some bugs. I do not use VR. My approach is to fly and enjoy as much as possible, and make reports and suggestions when necessary, without getting overly philosophical about the whole thing. I remain quite optimistic about the future. There will no doubt be alot of discussion about your post, but it does not really help us enjoy or improve the Sim. Cheers.
Developers are no longer able to bring the simulator to full blossom and beauty and bring on the endless possibilities and absolute state-of-the-art visual fidelity - but their only task now is to endless optimize by downgrading everything, trying to squeeze the most magnificient project ever made on sh!tty lowest-end-PCs and consoles, and do even more optimizing, and more visual downgrades. More optimizing, more visual downgrades…
Some more FPS are necessary please for even lower systems with even less RAM and VRAM, oh it should run on a Ryzen 3 iGPU with 1GB of VRAM and an XBox360 too after the next update. After the next mini-patch ten more FPS are necessary on a Radeon 460 and a single 8GB single channel RAM with Pentium IV so please developers reduce literally everything…
It´s no longer about bringing the most magnificent software ever created, the developers already did that - but to constantly downgrade and optimize their precious magnum opus it to make it run on every console and office notebook.
Yes of course the developers are probably very annoyed because of this! Because they could do so much more and make something that is worthy of becoming the first thing comparable to the Matrix… but get heavily limited by hardware absolutely not meant to run a flight simulator
Well I don’t use VR so I can’t relate to 100% to your post. But I can’t even remember when MSFS was really unusable for me. Little bugs are here and there, but that’s ok and in general it gets better and better (for me).
Apart from the rather disparaging remarks regarding S****Y lower end PC’s and Consoles whose proud owners are also hoping to experience absolute state-of-the-art visual fidelity,… Bravo and Great Post !
Had some performance issues after updating the sim, but when I cleaned my community folder, the sim works perfect for me. Found a suisse mesh addon as the problem in my CF. After deleting the addon, all is perfect in 2D and VR
On xbox the beta was brilliant. 80hours 1 ctd. Framerates stable, 0 complaints. Now? Plane changes are a guaranteed CTD. 747 ctd landing, 787 ctd landing or mid flight etc etc etc
I didn’t even have that before and I had on average 1 ctd an hour if lucky. The solution can not be “remove all add-ons” like they suggested once. Kind of “buy it but don’t use it” policy. There hasn’t been a game in history that caused this much frustration, was programmed this poorly and presents no solutions at all. For PC it may be acceptable, I don’t know, but xbox gamers will not stick around and that is a very bad thing for the sim in general.
This update contained loads of fixes and improvements, what are you on about.
Honestly some threads on here are just bizarre.
Bit like the one labelled “Xbox can’t handle MSFS2020”
A couple of people have issues, but they seem to think everyone must be in the same situation or like this one, the devs have lost their love. How strange.
