HDR is non functional in [Testing both DX11 and DX12]

Best luck for you. I’m sure that in next months we will see a lot of serie 3 of nvidia with good prices with launch of serie 4.
But let me also say that I have a second PC on my beach house with a 2070, and it’s god enough to run the sim, but in 2560x 1440.
Here at home is 4K (a LG TV 42) and requires something more strong.

I notice at night, if I have the ATC window open, it dims everything else until ATC window is closed again - anyway to stop this please?

Agreed. HDR10 is no longer functional in Sim Update 10

Agreed. HDR 10 makes a huge difference in visual realism, especially in bright sunlight.
I noticed it wasn’t working the moment I switched it on and nothing visually changed.

The workaround of pressing Alt + Enter to switch to Windowed mode then grabbing the window title bar and moving the window about a bit usually switches it to HDR for most people.
You can then switch back to Fullscreen mode with ALt + Enter again.
A bit annoying but only takes a few seconds to do.

I’m getting quite good DX12 results with my little ol’ RTX 2070 S :+1:

Are you peeps getting any color banding issues in the sky? It’s happening on SDR screens I wonder if that’s also the case in HDR?

yes, more prominent when DLSS is enabled.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

hdr does not enable from the menu anymore, alt enter (windowed mode) and window resizing enables it as a workaround.

Are you using DX12?

yes

Are you using DLSS?

no

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Hmm, thought so as much.

Let me guess… overexposed skies too with clouds?

You still have to activate HDR in Windows first.

Then boot up the sim.

If you switch to Windowed mode before quitting MSFS… it will boot up in HDR.

Then switch to Fullscreen.

Remember to switch back before quitting.

Hello everyone,

This issue should be resolved in SU11. For those of you who have opted in to the beta test, please confirm HDR is now functioning correctly without having to use the workaround.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

HDR is working fine for me in DX11 & DX12.
No need for the work around.
I’m in Beta SU11.

HDR working as intended on dx12 su11 can confirm.

Great, so does this mean no more color banding in the sky for both HDR and SDR screens once SU11 hits?

No, the color banding is still there, unfortunately.
