Helicopters - A Developers Prerspective on Pricing and Quality

If they at least could be flown.
The FM problems must be fixed.
The 407/300/r22/oh6 all fly with the same strange behavior and non existent left rudder and turns hard right when pushing up or down.

I doubt this block exists. Just look at MSCENERY and Captain Sim.

Umm no it definitely doesn’t! Check the comment I was replying to to get the context

It’s a hypothetical “solution” we discussed to try and stop that situation.

ok apples and oranges here but, if you have say forza horizon you expect all cars to be as good as the default cars. so any add on aircraft should be as good as the local flying legends releases. same amount functionality in cockpit, same number of liveries , all for around ÂŁ12 basic. mcmisery cant even make that, and even though asobosoft are getting a cut from each sale, i would have thought they would at least a passing interest in 3rd party quailty

It’s been touched on before in multiple topics here but I think they really can’t have a quality standard as part of the acceptance process. It’s too much of a grey area and depends on the view of the “human person” reviewing given product. It’s such a subjective thing and that “line” could change from day to day / reviewer to reviewer. That in itself would be unfair. All they can really do is check that it’s working (at a basic level) and doesn’t have any profanities / weapons etc for age rating validation.

The only hope is that they get bad reviews but as I’ve said in another thread on this subject there needs to be more push in the store to show better rated products more prominently and a better way to ask users to “submit” their rating in order to make the numbers of reviews higher overall. Maybe incentives to the end user like a tiny bit of Flight Sim Credits to act as a minuscule discount towards your next purchase or you can save them up and put a larger amount towards a future purchase.

Hey @Bushpilot6054
FYI I see that Got Friends have just updated their site to accept other payment methods now. As posted on the Discord:

I do not understand why these are being allowed onto the marketplace right now. They are some of the worst cut and paste jobs I have ever seen and they are releasing several a week now. How is it good for the MS Marketplace to have products of such obvious low quality flooding the market? Is there any quality control before they are put up? They copy the sounds and flight dynamics from the stock Bell 407, switches do not work, egregious errors like Collectives on the wrong side and battery switches labeled BUTT. In the long run, products like this just damage faith in the reliability of the platform as a whole. There has to be better quality control before something is put up.

Please remove this bad aircraft. It’s a pure moneygrab just like captain sim plane without cockpit. I would not even touch it you paid me.

Where are you reading this? It’s a good, accurate flight model. I think you might not be used to the way an actual helicopter behaves in flight.

The CowanSim Helis are the best in the sim. Very flyable if you know how to fly. https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/bCQ2VT0boxA

I don’t see it as that complicated. The textures alone would be an easy thing to see in about 30 seconds. Also functionality is easy to check. Does the switch work or is it there just for looks? Does it do what it says it’s supposed to do? Is the flight model anywhere near something real? That all can be sorted out in about 10 minutes. It is a simulation and not Ace Combat after all.

Its not up to end users to determine. Its up to microsoft and Asobo to determine. They are building the sim and should know it better than anyone. If this can’t happen, they should open up the market access outside the sim. Have a comprehensive review system with the ability to leave detailed reviews and post videos and screen shots. The best reviewed products should move to the top of the list and the money grab stuff will be so buried it shouldn’t make a dime.

I hope microsoft would do the right thing and look out for the end user. Not just put everything up so they can increase their profits. Possibly wishful thinking.

what is Asobo doing allowing this sort of SUBSTANDARD helicopter how do i get a refund

The sad part is that I was looking forward to a good version of these helis. I hope these “offerings” do not deter a quality developer from creating their own versions. I think the MS Scenery guy is going out and buying the models from other developers and just doing a p%s poor job from there. Just no effort at all being shown. I don’t think he has the skill to develop this many models so quickly. We would all be better off if he would just stop cluttering up the marketplace. Sorry if I sound harsh but it’s the way I see it.

I’ve noticed a trend of posts critical of mscenery garbage tend to get flagged and hidden. Not all, mind you, but enough to be noticeable. Because I never see a fanbase defending these products, I can only assume one of two cases: there is a large but silent contingent of simmers who appreciate low quality shovelware, . The alternative is the “dev” (and it’s really a stretch to use that term) is flagging messages himself/themselves

I’m starting to think mscenery might be an Asobo or Microsoft employee - would explain how they get so many new products and updates to the front of the queue.

We are overdue a system where any released product has to state its realism level.
Say ‘fun’ ‘realistic flight only’ ‘photorealism’ and ‘study level’
Would certainly help newer simmers with their buying decisions, and subsequent remorse

That’s a nice idea, but again it’s a grey area. Who would set those tags? Whether it’s the developer or the reviewer, the “judgement scale” won’t be consistent between products. But I like the idea. Perhaps in a more black and white way it could indeed work and be useful for buyers.

Thing is everyone is going to want to say “realistic” as that is a selling point on a simulator. All the “mobile app” flight “games” also say realistic in their descriptions but are far from it

Both r22 and oh6 got updates today, have no idea what they did but nothing in the flight model changed, and since these basically are just reskinned long rangers, and they still have not fixed that one, the wait goes on.

And why give us two versions of the same chopper today?! Could we not get one of them and one something else?

And yes! Mscenery is making MS money!
More people probably buys there cheap products then anything else.
And no problem with that, I am just a casual xbox player and dont need studylevel helicopters, but I do want helicopters that are a joy to fly and controllable!!
And these are not!
The cabri and the cowan does not suffer from the very bad torque compensation these 407 copys do, so its not a problem you cant fix!
But the biggest problem is how hard thrown to the right the choppers are when pushing up or down, its just silly!
And the poor tailrotor dont have power to stop it, so you spin and spin and spin even more!
Even now after flying these choppers for weeks I can end up in these situations instantly if I am not super careful.

Pleeeease fix these choppers!

And please give us some new really good choppers! This game really needs it!
Love the cabri, do more like that please with sugar all over it!

Ya, I love the MD500e. Thats a manly man’s chopper! lol. Guess I better not get it then. ah, I love the thicker grip of the Thrustmaster for Xbox so will wait for it to be finished by Asobo for Xbox. Its been submitted by Cowan and apparently Asobo is doing all their testing..so
soon then! Will make some great photo’s.

Just make a check list of requirements. If something misses one it’s banned from the market. Easy. No judgment just yes or no. No Grey area. Does it or doesn’t it? Done.

I still don’t follow. Give me an example of a few?
