Having tried so many different settings thanks to this forum as well as all the contributors I eventually found the configuration recommended by Foyalais suits my condition in the best way since I have a similar combination of hardware. Below the linkage of his original post for anyone who’s seeking for guidance as I was months ago.
With 10600kf/3070/32G/M2 SSD and Quest 2 cable linked, I do have a few personal suggestions/opinion to further add onto this guidance:
-
The fps various a lot (7-10fps) with or without the headset on my head. ie, I normally have 7-10 less fps with the quest2 on my head due to headset movements hence it’s important to always measure/benchmark the fps with simulated condition of wearing the headset. I borrowed a big Micky Mouse doll from my daughter to wear the headset when I needed to observe fps data on my monitor, which was pretty handy.

Since day one I’ve been having head movement jitter in cockpit issue regardless the overall smooth and crisp experience. I knew such jitter couldn’t be eliminated at least for now since Asobo admitted themselves that this was one of the VR technical issue they are working on (and hopefully to be solved in the next update which is supposed to be released in Sept). But then I have tried almost all the solutions posted in the forum so as to hopefully improve it a little bit, have been tuning around with ASW in ODT and ‘glass cockpit refresh rate’ in MSFS while unfortunately none of these appeared to be really working for me. Since I’m very reluctant to compromise with my ultra/high settings in MSFS as well as 1.7x super sampling at 90hz in Oculus home, the only applicable solution was to further reduce FOV in ODT for a higher fps.
So I tested the FOV from 0.8,0 which was my original setting that provided me 30fps in average, down to various combinations like 0.7,0; 0.8,0.8 and so on. Eventually I found the smallest FOV I could get is 0.7,0.8 without actual effect of real FOV lost since I have the glasses spacer installed in Quest 2 for my nearsighted lens.
In the end I decided to go with 0.71,0.9 which guarantees me >35fps at nearly all the conditions I tested. And the fact is, though I still couldn’t get rid of the jitters completely the situation was largely improved and the flights were much more joyful now.
Hope this is helpful.
