Still lusting for TPR by Thrustmaster. Should I?
Me too
The TPR’s are fantastic. Highly recommended.
My only gripe about those is that they are super close together. People told me that’s what it’s like in a C150/172. That’s one area of realism I’m willing to compromise. I got the Logitech pedals to hold me over until either the Charlies pop into existence or I can convince my wife that a set of the $500+ fancy Thrustmaster TPR ones are NEEDED.
Can you DM me on how you did that or is there a YT video? I’ve had mine for a couple of years and the clicky noise is getting a bit louder than I care for lol
I have the TPR ones. My only gripe about them isn’t about the pedals themselves. It’s about how bad the sim’s yaw axis reveals itself to be when you get good pedals. Before good pedals, I blamed my pedals.
You mean in flight or ground handling?
Both, but I only fly small, single engine GA aircraft. I can’t speak for anything other than the C152 and C172.
Edit: I should add that that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the game. I live with it as a limitation and move on. But it was something pronounced that I noticed when I got my good pedals, and that I didn’t expect.
Man, mine arrive tomorrow. At least I am starting to play XP12 and DCS now.
I held out for the charlies and gave up.
I agree with you but really hate the ground physics especially when there is wind.
Back to the Charlie Pedals, I asked Aerosoft once again about any info on ETA. According to them, the “Q1 2023” statement still stands, though I somehow doubt it will happen.
I still am having issues with tech support
Yeah - I had a really hard time with them too. I don’t know if they are overworked / understaffed, or what. Great product, but the support could use some polishing up.
I always say you judge a company by how they react when things don’t go as planned. Many of them are super slick at showing off their wares, taking your money and shipping your item but they fail badly with anything that comes after that. From most reports it seems Honeycomb is another one of these. When you find gems that don’t operate like this it’s best to support them.
Can’t wait for the Charlie’s
To be honest that wasn’t the best review though.
Agreed. That particular review was not really representative of the user market I suspect. The guy was banging on about how impractical they are when the same thing can be said for other pedals. It comes down to use case I guess but pretty much everything that he nit picked as a negative I considered a positive. They only thing I agreed on was the usb outlet placement. I’ve not tried these yet and have a set of TPR’s so I don’t need these but from what I’ve seen of all the Honeycomb products these seem to be the best so far. The proof is obviously in use but they look promising to me and way better than the CH, Logitech or Turtlebeach plastic offerings. If you are in the market for a set of pedals they are worth considering if you can put up with HC’s customer service practices.
The point I see as well is the unfortunate placement of the tension knob. Others than that I am looking forward to receiving my unit to complete the HC setup.
