Hi there!
Been doing some research and can’t seem to find out if the honeycomb flight yoke and throttle are compatible with the playseat airforce? Does anyone know could help me out?
The Honeycomb Alpha Yoke and the Bravo Throttle have a very generic clamping mechanism that would easily attach to the very generic Playseat Airforce mount position. Mounting both though, might require a piece of plywood or something to allow the width necessary.
Just my $.02.
Jim-Sim
I can’t find any dimensions on the Playseat’s platform, but I’m with Jim’s assessment. The Alpha can use either a clamp or a suction cup, so I don’t see any possible issues that could come up.
Here’s a video demonstrating the Alpha’s mounting - https://youtu.be/y46lKT4GLdw?t=14
You would likely be able to mount the yoke centred, but there’s be no mechanism to mount the throttle as well.
You can build a shelf for it from a piece of plywood that would allow you to attach both. In my case, I bought a cheap 10x32" shelf from Home Depot and attached it to my First Level Racing flight stand so I can mount all my panels and gear and move it all around as 1 unit.
How is your Xbox controller attached to your yoke? Are you using it exclusively for drone cam?
Thanks so much for the advice!!! My first post and quick and great advice! Much appreciated! That Xbox controller mounted to the yoke is genius and looks great btw!
See the post below for all the details on how I attached it. 3 months later and it’s still holding strong and I still love it.
I use the XBOX controller for several functions, although most related to camera views. In the cockpit, the right analog stick is for free look. Left isn’t used (yet). D-Pad is used to translate views (move around the cockpit like arrow keys on your keyboard). I have a “shift” function via the left shoulder button, and the D-Pad becomes my ATC commands 7-0 (1-6 I have on the yoke). ABXY show VRF map, and toggle external and drone views. I haven’t found use for the other buttons as of yet.
Otherwise, it’s used for drone camera control mostly.
EDIT:
Also, I eventually switched to using the controller in wired mode. In wireless, it will eventually go to sleep if not used after X minutes, which causes a 30 second pause in the sim as, and then another pause when it reconnects when you use it again.
Great info. Thank you.
Hello and welcome to the forums! There is a category for discussing yokes, throttles, rudder pedals, hardware panels, etc. It’s called Peripherals. I have moved your post there.
Playseat airforce mounting platforms are 27cm x 18cm.
I thought this was a great question. I asked the Playseat Store via email directly and they said:
“Thank you for contacting us. Hope you’re doing well. The Honeycomb Alpha use either a clamp or a suction part and can be fitted on the Playseat® Air Force. Trusting to have provided you with sufficient information.”
It sounds like the Alpha can be clamped on securely without modding anything, if I’m not reading too much in to the reply. I’d rather screw it down, but I guess it will work. You’ve made me want a Playseat now! Very badly! Thanks.
