Horizon Sims just released a statement on their Discord page saying they are now aware of the takeoff problems and will be releasing an update to that effect soom.
Just did my first flight with this 787 and she took off like a rocket without much input on the yoke, maybe the aircraft just needs to be configād for takeoff properlyā¦
If anyone wants a quick step through FMC & aircraft setup flow/list Iāve put one together (for myself) already. The CG value and stab trim is the main disconnect as I found out earlier that and having to use the default sim weights and balance page to set the fuel and payload to approximate simbrief values to get the CG value to use in the EFB for perf calc. Takes off no problem for me now. Still had it turning away (to the right this time) from first waypoint again tonight not sure what that is all about as it shouldnāt be happening.
The way to find the CG value is to Expand the sim Weight/Balance page. I could never find the CG valueāturns out if you have the page diminished at all the CG numbers do not appear.
This was true for me too. It had been ages since Iād used that sim weights and balance interface and as you say it was defaulting to a narrower view hiding CG. Widening window to the right and CG section appears.
I am having the same issue! I donāt have any issues with the Asobo 787-10 . Only taking off issues with the Horizon 787-9. Thanks for the link.
That amazes me too..
500+MB feels like too much for a livery ( which is basically a paintjob)
I took the horizon KLM dreamliner for a checkride yesterday and wasnāt impressed.
Sure, I know this is a freeware bird and not āstudy-levelā but this airplane doesnāt provide me the needed wow feeling.
This is just the reality of modern games. Textures are by far the most storage heavy art asset. For example, one 32bit 8K texture is 8000x8000x4 bytes uncompressed, which is already 256MB right there. An aircraft is comprised of multiple layers of various textures (base color, normal map, metalness/roughness map, etc). To paint an aircraft you might need to adjust all of those in each area you touch, so very quickly, even with compressed textures, you can get to the hundreds of MB.
Thereās a livery package, quite a few liveries on flightsim.to for 1.21GB
Thatās compressed. They are all 8k and it decompresses to a lot more that 1.2GB. They are nice, but you canāt remove individual ones to reduce the package size.
The initial version on release day is about 30 individual liveries. Uncompressed itās 15.4GB. There is a revised/updated version out now that I have not yet downloaded (busy all day yesterday) but is almost certainly in the same neighborhood.
Hi, i deleted about half of them and it they still worked fine. Made a backups first incase it backfired.
some livery creators on Flightsim.to are starting to do 4K versions as well as the 8K
They are all in one directory though with itās own manifest.json no? Did you have to regenerate this after deleting them? Ill need to go check. Certainly way more liveries than Iāll ever use with this.
Oh that sounds good. Iām not short of VRAM, but my 2TB SSD is rapidly getting eaten up!
Hi, no i Just deleted the ones iām not using, not tuching anything else.
Once downloaded how do you ope/install thems? When I try to open the package it asks if I want to go to MS store for a tool. What do I need?
Thanks.
Itās a RAR archive. There were reports on the Horizon Discord from people having problems using WinRar to extract, but I used 7Zip and it worked perfectly, so thatās the tool Iād recommend.
Yes it was a silly question really as I went into control settings and found it- easy as that. I deleted the assignments to that switch and I have the displays working all of the time now. Thanks to you both for mentionig it, these Forums are so useful for resolving problems which sometimes are not obviuos.
On my flight today, I couldnāt set the autobrake, the rotating knob kept returning to the off position. It stayed in RTO on the take off. Anyone else have that problem?
Have you got a link for their Discord page?
