How do you fly missions?

Just upgraded from msfs2020 to 2024 and looking to try my hand at specific missions. How do you do this? I’m not looking for a career mode, just things like firefighting, ocean oil platform transfers, safaris, etc like we saw in the ads.

Which selection is this? Also can you download additional ones? Thanks

So, you cannot do “missions “ without being in Career mode. They do firefighting, rescue, medevac, cargo, VIP and Airliner transport missions. No bush missions/trips until next year sometime.

There are challenge leagues, photography challenges, and an activities section for which you need to explore.

See this long-standing, heavily voted wishlist item (which, for some reason, still hasn’t made the the global wishlist displayed in the dev update, despite having more votes than others that are on the list):

It’s like the XKCD cartoon: “you’re one of today’s lucky 10,000,” but not in an optimistic way.

Its best to start the train of disappointment early, then he can focus on the good points later to cheer himself up

Guys, you are all so ……..ing funny  :joy:. I’m cracking up!

well, this is a bummer. i was under the (mistaken) impression you could fly specific missions with different aircraft. shoot. i also read the career stuff is pretty broken so didn’t even take a look at it. this seems like a big miss on Asobo’s part

Yes you can fly different missions with different aircaft, in Career. Within say a cargo mission you can choose to fly with a c172, PC-12, PC-24 C208, C408, Saab 340 but you need to first earn the licences and specialisations. Each company you eventually own has a few different aircraft within it that you have to “buy” with credits you earn from flying missions.
Once you start Career mode by earning your PPL - then Commercial licence and then the others, will also “licence” you to fly different plane types - eg turboprops, multi-engine, jet etc. Honestly, give it a go but be prepared to on occasion express your frustrations in the forum. It is fun but filled with bugs you have to tolerate.
