How is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 right now

@D1rtyDuckUK
It is sad to hear that the patch did not solve your issue.
I do still CTD but I get a much better result with the following steps.

  1. start system
  2. cmd as admin - ipconfig /flushDNS
  3. reboot
  4. cmd as admin - ipconfig /flushDNS (without reboot)
  5. start sim

Sounds a bit weired especially that I have to flushDNS two times but with this steps I have a 50:50 chance of having the sim running.
If it runs with the current dns I can close it and restart the sim without CTD

Maybe worth a try. I know it sounds a bit voodoo but I would also sacrifice some chickenwings if needed
So far I do only free flights, do not know if this will help with other modes as well.
Good luck to all of you hope we can enjoy the sim in the near future without bigger issues.

EDIT:
vanilla sim + AxisAndOhs + BlackSquare turbine duke + GTN 750 from PMS50 + tobii (manual adjusted XML)

vanilla sim + AxisAndOhs + c 172 Asobo + GTN 750 from PMS50 (not in use but still in the community folder) + tobii (manual adjusted XML)

vanilla sim + AxisAndOhs + H225 + GTN 750 from PMS50 (not in use but still in the community folder) + tobii (manual adjusted XML)

It would be interesting to compare the content of your DNS cache before flushing then again after you have loaded MSFS to see if there is any difference in the IPs you are getting.

"General Bug Fixes

Fixed remaining broken jetways.
Updated the message asking the player to link the Steam account.
Fixed unloading/reloading of WASM gauges upon restarting a flight."

I guess they did not check out EGKK!! Have jetways but they are not attached to any terminal buildings as there are none lol.

Iā€™m giving up, canā€™t take much more of waiting for it to load and CTD or load choose an option and CTD or if Iā€™m very lucky get into a plan and then CTD

Iā€™m punishing myself by continually trying to get it workingā€¦

Had another crack today, been 2 weeks and there was another patch so fingers crossed I thought, even wasted my money on a VPN solution as well hoping that may improve things and as I feared there is zero difference in loading times. Still blurry cockpits, runways, you name it. Impossible to enjoy, hell I wouldnā€™t even call it playable. I have lost all enthusiasm now, including even wanting to boot up 2020 anymore.

Much better today, loaded in less than 2 minutes, free flight with Bonanza at 70+ fps, all home cockpit controls worked fine. Scenery was fantastic. So far sticking with free flight.

I got a message today that the marketplace content will now be transfered and I should restart the sim. Since then I am unable to get into it anymore.
All the hecks I did try do not work anymore.

I have now more than 50h of ā€œplaytimeā€ according to the xbox app, with about 1h of recorded flight time.

I just give up. I guess I will surrender to MS/Asobo, Telekom or who ever is causing these issues.
Looks like my whole setup is just not capable of running the sim. :sleepy:

Same situation for me. I donā€™t have any experiences with VPNs, as FS2020 runs smoothly without it. I really hesitate to buy a VPN cause itā€™s not easy to set up with the router. Wonā€™t blame Telekom Germany alone, I think MS/ Asobo has to offer a solution for this. Itā€™s just not playable!

This is how itā€™s looking. Nothing more is loading regardless of how long Iā€™m waiting.

I am even thinking if it still makes sense investing time and money into 2020. I am pretty sure despite all the promisses at some point of time they will stop the service for it as well and force users into 2024.
Since my setup seems not capable of dealing with 2024 everything I invest will be gone.
Worst part for me personally is it robs me of the enjoyment of flying in a sim.

And this is just not worth it anymore.
Wish you good luck and hopefully you will be able to enjoy it at some point of time.

What monitor are you using for this ? Iā€™m new to this and my monitors colours are crazy bright. Thinking about turning hdr off

I just have an oldish 32ā€ 4K Benq BL3201PH IPS monitor. No HDR, only 60HZ but it looks great.

My experience with the game so far has been pretty positive. My main frustration is with setting up the peripherals and the 3rd party products. I flew a quick flight from KLAS to KPHX in the Fenix A320. Flight model and the scenery was really pretty great. The lighting in this desert environment is really pretty neat. I have quite a few gripes with the Fenix but I canā€™t get logged onto the discord page to log them. Overall pretty smooth. BATC is getting better but also so pretty glaring glitches.
I do want to shout out one pretty awesome change. Iā€™ve never complained about this before but, in MSFS2020 and previous sims you could see airports 100 miles away. IRL they can be pretty tough to pick out sometimes especially when theyā€™re in the city. I love the lighting theyā€™ve brought to this sim. This picture is the ILS26 at KPHX. Just a neat detail that adds and important piece of realism to the sim. Once they get everything tightened up this is going to be an amazing experience.

Iā€™ll try turning hdr off today see if I get a more quality picture. The greens etc are way too green

Still canā€™t finish any flight with Inibuild airplanes and being able to go back to the main menu. Even shuting down the game make it still be open in the taskbar. Truly disapointed so far.

Not interested in the career mode at all so just waiting for PMDG to start working with 2024 and then I will switch over. Until that time I will stick with 2020

Overall my experience has been really good, despite things like the Controls UI being practically incomprehensible, the obviousness of the rushed release, and the thousand little paper cuts with scenery bugs like this one:

That green airliner would never be at that airport.

Most other buggy things seem to be related to FS2020 assets not being consistently operational. For example, yesterday I couldnā€™t start my Bonanza G36 Improvement Project. Today it started just fine.

Fortunately, I havenā€™t experienced the VRAM issue that is plaguing those with 8GB GPUā€™s (and may be a problem for those with 16GB or even 24GB like I have.) I tend to think thereā€™s something else causing FPS drop on those higher-end systems - we just havenā€™t figured out what it is yet.

But when I can fly, it looks pretty spectacular, and not having to deal with the server issues some are reporting (I use a VPN to a US server) and never having CTDā€™s make the little bugs easier to deal with.

Iā€™m optimistic that in a few months Iā€™ll be even happier.
Maybe then Iā€™ll try career mode. There are too many problems being reported with that right now. Until those get fixed Iā€™ll be happy just to toodle around the sky in Free Flight.

I donā€™t get that sense of excitement or desire to use FS24 that I got from FS20. I donā€™t even have access to FS20 any more so Iā€™m stuck with this new sim fail.

I find myself coming up with other things to do instead. Iā€™ve just used it for a couple of hours, first time this week. Bits of it were almost good but overall after what was supposed to be some fun time Iā€™m just left sad and a bit depressed about how bad the whole thing is and how far away it is from what could be considered an acceptable ready to release state.

If anything the promise of what it could be makes it worse because itā€™s just so far away from achieving that Iā€™m worried itā€™ll be years until it does.

You may be right. But 4K with Buildings on High, Rocks on Ultra, Trees on Ultra, Plants on High, Grass on Medium, Clouds on Ultra, and HDR, the world looks so much better than in FS2020 - mostly. They really did get that part right at least.

Think trees are way off though ā€¦ to large and to many.

This is especially vissible in those youtubs vids that shows Sim and RW next to eachother
