How many people have FS2024 but still choose FS2020?

I still use and enjoy flying my favourite aircraft in 2020. i can still use all the great detailed liveries available for my Spitfire.

I have 2024, 2020 and FSX all currently installed.

I started my first round the world trip recently:

  • 2024 takes too long to load for me that I gave up waiting for it to load and went back to 2020
  • 2020 had an overdue update since I hadn’t started it for a while, so left it downloading and started the first 2 or 3 legs from UK to Iceland and Greenland on FSX instead (!)
After the last couple of updates for 2024 I’m willing to give it another go, but I’ll be switching back to whatever works as needed.

Sadly Asobo trashed vr performance, however there are too many bugs to remotely enjoy what 2024 has to offer.

I am still using 2020. I got FS2024 on Gamepass to try it. It runs OK on my system, but not quite as well as FS2020 does, particularly with large jets where there’s a noticeable difference in jerkiness. So I decided to stick with FS2020 for the time being until (a) I have a better computer (b) the major bugs have been ironed out (c) my add-on aircraft have been updated for compatibility. I’m in no rush.

Still running 2020 as my sole sim currently. After the first week of 24, it’s been uninstalled until a later date.

I have both installed with 2024 as my preference - 2020 still great however the scenery, lighting and flight model of 2024 makes every return to the former less desirable for me.

I dumped MSFS2020 and went all in on 2024. I wrongly couldn’t believe that it would not just pick up from msfs 2020. I have a zillion add-ons that I love and planes which don’t work yet in 2024.

I love the fenix, inibuolds defaults, the ini A300 etc and many of my GA planes not working too.

So in the interim I am back to XP12 for some Toliss A330-900 Neo / FF777-200ER action while MSFS2024 catches up.

I am also peeved that some Devs are announcing charges for planes that are still not finished in msfs 2020 were on the basis that as an early adopter(Day 0 in my case) I was helping and now it looks like I will be charged to use that unfinished plane in 2024. I find that a bit annoying but I’ll see what the fee is.

I know Devs have to eat, but I have had a plane for nearly 2 years and it’s far from complete.

Then we have Devs saying the SDK isn’t up to scratch, and then we have some Devs saying compatible version and fully updated versions, it just seems a nonsense to me.

I’m totally put off by 2024 but I also love it and think it’s great, so it’s a bit a double edged sword for me. 2024 performance is off the scale compared with 2020 but broken planes and lack of planes, it’s getting stale for me.

Sad, but it is what it is. I’m not going back to 2020 and I am not spending Ā£200 on a new SIM only to then be buying add-on for it’s predecessor free upgrade or not, that’s crazy to me, or seems so.

So for now I’m flying mostly XP12 with a bit of 2024 mixed in.

I preordered 2024 and after two weeks of frustration, I asked for a refund and MS denied the request. I honestly saw nothing in 2024 that was worth putting up with endless crashes and bugs. After many wasted hours I realized that all I was doing was trying to get 2024 to do what I can already do in 2020. So I uninstalled 2024 and went back to 2020. I guess I’ll try 2024 again some day, but right now I have no interest in it at all. I feel like I was cheated and it will be a long time until I’ll even consider installing 2024 again. I hope MS learn something from this disaster, I doubt 2024’s reputation will ever fully recover. It reminds me of Windows Vista.

I enjoy the simple flights in FS 2024 . Par example the flight with the ballon in the alps. Landing in snow field and walking about mountain .
Thats a new option of lucky flight and very funny, specially in VR.

I totally agree, I can not perform any type flight that involves more than a couple of hours. If so, seems that every time I get the loss of server message, The first part of the flight is lost . So, I for now will use 2020 until the 2024 fixes are completed. Sad, you pay your hard earned cash for something that does not function properly

For me the main problem is that I cant build a new flight_model.cfg to the aircraft to improve them and adapt their behavior to the real world.

And this could be done in 2020.

So for me as real world pilot and flight instructor FS2020 more realistic.

For all the much heralded ā€˜New techniques’ in design, the title still looks and feels rather synthetic, which is of course the only outcome of CGI but I can’t help feel that some folks were definitely oversold…

I have 2024 (on game pass) but choose to use 2020 as it has better performance, my pmdg aircraft work on it (especially the 77W), and it doesn’t automatically give you a random tail number.

I didn’t buy FS2024.

I bought a large bucket of popcorn.

The amount of popcorn you will need for the next years will cost you the same as a copy of FS2024 Aviator edition.

This is my quote and I own itā€¦ā€œI DO NOT RECOMMEND MSFS 2024!ā€

Wish I didn’t purchase MSFS 2024 then and still wouldn’t buy it now. I don’t know how they could EVER make it up to their, what used to be a trusting community.

Incompetence runs amuck. MSFS 2020 IS STILL BETTER…AND THAT’S SAD.

You can just re-install FS 2020!
You can have both at the same time no issues.

I uninstalled 2020 after a few days, when the initial launch issues were solved and I’ve not looked back, way too many improvements in 2024 for me to go back!

HI personaly I bought the Standart version MSFS2024 but a lot of CTD and crashes.
So I decided to use again MSFS2020.
One question about Market place 2020, there are Sales until 2025/01/02 but today I bought some airports which are not recognized in MSFS2024.
Do-you think that in future it works? I do not find any answer about it? Thanks
