How much GPU am I utilizing, really?

I recently upgraded my CPU to a Ryzen 5600 (overclocked to 4.75) , together with my previous RX2070. I have also been using NZXT Cam monitor for overclocking and taking a look at my temp during MSFS. I also enable the developer FPS counter from time to time.

I’m using a mixture of High and Ultra settings at 1440 and fames stay between 30 and 40, and I’m happy with it. I notice that the developer console always says my frames are GPU limited but NZXT says that I am only using 10-30% of my GPU utilization.

Which should I believe and do you have better monitoring options?

=> Explanation

Thanks. I knew about the Task Manager issue, but did not realize that most monitoring software just reads this info. I guess I’ll still use NZXT for the CPU, FPS and temp displays, but if you know of better options, please let me know.

So when the developer mode FPS read says I am GPU limited, believe it?

This two are quite different:

For the GPU there are lot of values.

I use the developer mode normaly not.

EDIT: re-read your question. But yes, I assume the “FPS-counter” in dev mode show you the right thing, it also “summarize” the load.

therefore check the mentioned link and then you know where you have to click in Taskmanager to see the real load :slight_smile:

Tools like MSI Afterburner also made “summary”.

I actually came across the default windows system (I guess it is an Xbox overlay?) by pressing win+g. It shows GPU and CPU usage and is able to be minimized and moved about. Has a FPS counter as well but can’t seem to get that to work

MSI Afterburner, HWiNFO64 and GPU-Z are better options. The former two can use RTSS to show an ingame overlay, not sure about GPU-Z.

Looking for GPU and CPU monitoring

HWiNFO64 or MSI Afterburner then. Afterburner if you’re happy with CPU clock, temperature and GPU stats. HWiNFO64 if you want waaaay more on the CPU side.

Thank you!!
