How to change time of day during a flight

How do I change the time of day during a flight? I’ve seen it done, but I need to know how. For example, when I make a flight plan, I might want it to be during daylight. But when I start the flight, it’s almost always dark outside the plane. Is this because it’s always UTC, or am I doing something else wrong? I like to fly at night once in a while, but I prefer daylight. Any help/advice would be appreciated. In case it matters, I’m using MSFS Steam edition. Thanks.

Click on the weather icon in the toolbar:

Then drag the slider to adjust the time of day

Altneratively you can set the time before you start your flight by pressing the 'Flight Conditions box, then selecting ‘Preset’ or ‘Custom’ and adjusting the time

Hit escape, then mouse up to the drop down menu that should appear at the top of the screen - select the ‘Cloud’ icon and you can change the time of day there. Then click ‘Resume’ to carry on…

Thanks, guys, for the quick reply and info. I’m using Live time and weather, so do I have to turn that off to see the cloud in the upper icons? Mousing over shows several icons to click on, but no cloud. Thanks. [Also, can I change the time of day and still be on “Live weather?”]

You can fly with live weather, but you can still change the time of day.

If the cloud one isn’t there, there should be a settings one, which you can click on to then enable the weather (cloud) icon.

You can fly with live weather, but change the time, yes this is possible

As states above - yes. I do it all the time on VATSIM, since I only have time to play after 11 PM, but also enjoy seeing the scenery.

If I click on Settings (gear), Weather is at the bottom, but it’s grayed out, making it impossible to turn it on. It’s off right now. Thanks again.

Do you have the Unreal weather mod installed? If so remove it as it does not work right here in SU7

  1. Under MULTIPLAYER - use ALL PLAYERS mode, not LIVE PLAYERS. Using LIVE PLAYERS will lock you into real time / weather
  2. Under WEATHER AND TIME - use PRESET, and select LIVE WEATHER from the right hand column.

These 2 changes will let you both see other players and live weather, but give you the option to change time of day or weather as you see fit using the drop-down toolbar in game.

Is this the setting you use when having issues with Live Weather updating?

Doesn’t matter. I can use the Live Weather setting or that one and the result is the same.

Just tried spawning in at 3 separate locations testing out my new CPU though, and weather worked for me today on all 3 separate occasions. We’ll see if that keeps up.

Was just a thought. I have never used the Live preset, and you know my weather experience…

Both work exactly the same in my experience. Only using the Live preset allows you to change weather mid-flight. I typically just have Live from the main screen selected as I don’t change weather mid-flight unless I want to test stuff.

Well, I finally figured it out thanks to you guys helping me. I turned on multiplayer and live weather, then chose All Players, and there’s the cloud! Thanks for all the help.
