I am more than sure that you can disable the hangar in the background in the UI, but I no longer remember how to do it.
Can anyone help me? I couldn’t find anything in the settings.
Not be too sure as that is a new feature coming with SU10s low energy mode - at least I don’t know any other official way to disable this
yes that’s right. The low energy mode will deactivate the hangar view in SU10. works well in the beta. My PCs temperature and noise level is now significantly lower while in the main menu.
I have already did it. (Maybe with a change in the files? I can’t find anything in the browser history)
I had it until yesterday (I updated the PMDG 737), but today the hangar on background is living again.
Oh I would love to have a different hangar, or just darkness or fog around the airplane in the hangar view modus. Just for the sake of interesting new things to see…
Or why not an empty parking area with a nice airport and tower in the background?
But will the low energy mode also reduce the performance of the flight itself, reducing all the graphics quality and rendering?
no, it won’t. In-flight performance is identical
Or the ability to choose my own background image (that I can’t really see), rather than a 3D hangar I can’t see at all, yet sucks compute power like a monster…
An accomplished UI designer looks beyond just making it pretty… and understands the consequences of their UI choices on many factors.
A different background won’t really change anything. The resource/energy usage comes from the fact that the 3D rendering engine is active even though there’s another layer displayed on top. I don’t do the beta’s, so this is the first I’ve heard of a low energy mode, but it’s a lead pipe cinch that I’ll be heading there in the menus as soon as the update is released!
I was thinking the same. I wish they would give us the option to remove it and just have a black background.
I know the game features are the priority now but I hope in the future they also look at streamlining the UI and making it more responsive.
There is a nice little mod for X-Plane 11 that addresses this when you pause it it ramps down the resources XP11 uses, very handy if you need to step away from PC for a while and dont want the GFX card going full bore needlessly.
I hope this is addressed in MSFS and we see something similar. There are times we need to pause the game (using the true pause from Dev menu) and at this time I wish 3D tasks were also ramped down to save energy.
How could a 2D background image not suck much, much less power? I’m confused.
A 2D layer (or none at all) under the menus would indeed pull much less power and resources, but at the moment, there is no option for that, unless maybe it’s in Developer Mode. I never use that, so I wouldn’t know.
My guess is, there is a way to turn off visibility of the hangar (remove it as a UI object).
The request for a 2D image to replace it was mine and unrelated to the original question.
Exactly that does the low energy mode in the Beta - it deactivates the 3D world rendering in all menus but the hangar itself and just places the blurry 2D screen from the content manager in it’s place. Quite simple but quite useful and effective
There is a new experimental section in settings for such stuff, no need to enable dev mode. Anyway that’s just coming with SU10.
Hm for some reason I would love the get some Windows XP green hills as background with some asphalt parking space (or maybe a desert background), with the airplane standing on it. The camera in front of the plane.
The only animated thing should be a windsock, and a day/night cycle.
Simple but very classy from an aesthetic point of view.
note: the main exising wishlist topic related to that is:
Within we also disucessed different aspects, etc. ..
Anyone know WHERE the Hanger is located (in the world) ?
You cannot Currently TAXI out of the hanger, and look around, BUT, (here is the funny thing), if you are in a BOAT, the boat will slowly move out of the hangar, and you can see the surrounding scenery.
But that scenery is Limited, if you travel too far , you “run out of scenery”, and the scenery / airport where the hangar is, does NOT seem to be any one that you can normally see, in the sim.
Very peculiar !!
I have to say I misunderstood the idea of “low power mode” and this is a magnificent option.
A 2D flight planner would be an ideal next step.
While I have made a thread appreciating the fact that the entire solar system (and star chart) spins about in the globe mode … I really do not need it.
You can enable VSync in NVCP anyway and your fps will never go above what your monitor is capable of (even if that’s120fps it’s still much better than the 600 I get without it).
.. as mentioned, we discussed all of that within the other topic and should not split it.. In short why these topic was: limiting the fps is not sufficent enough. E.g. my 2080ti was often in 4K in near full load to reach my 35fps vsync target. The goal was, that zero rendering-load is taken onto the gpu ( e.g. from a useless realtime beackground rending of that hangar ). Of course limiting the fps to monitors max fps should each user do, or simple use vsync ( but some users mean they notice the 10ms additional delay and dont like vsync
). ( and in best case also the max-background-fps target which can much lower )
And what the low-power-mode additional do is , if vsync enable, it plays with the vsync target dynamicly
