How to fix poor performance after update to Windows 11 22H2

Go to Computer Management → System Tools → Performance → Data Collector Sets → Event Trace Sessions. In this list, find HolographicShell, right click, and choose ‘Stop’.

You have to do this every time you start up the sim.

This also work for VR.

Thanke to @kilumbus5901 for the tip.

Hope that Asobo see this and can make a permanent solution. Plz.

Confirmed, this change works, from unplayable in 2D and VR to super smooth. This needs a flag to be fixed, Microsoft.

I request to re-post this as Bug. This behaviour is a Windows Bug / makes fs2020 unplayable

Don’t quote me but I believe it has been fixed in the W11 insider builds

the #bugs-and-issues category is for an issue with MSFS-you offer a solution or workaround which is why I moved your post.

If you would like to contribute to the issue-use the post you linked above. Thanks!

I am on the latest regular release, and latest Nvidia drivers. Can confirm there it is definitely not fixed. I am not on any insider pre-release builds

Well, the performance tanking is either a Windows or Nvidia or MSFS bug, as long as HolographicShell is running. Thus, it should be categorized as a bug and resolved between the three involved parties, like any good tech companies practice.
This has been open for way too long already, and does not seem to get the required attention as it renders the game unplayable for a large amount of customers.

If it helps, disabling onboard sound will also fix it. There’s no problem with HDMI audio
