If I want to land at a small airfield that has no approaches and no VOR, is there a correct way to do with with instrumentation or is the only real option to do a visual approach and land?
Visual approach if there is no ILS.
The correct way to do it VFR without control is : fly vertical the runway at 1000ft above airport altitude (so you can see the windsock and chose the best runway), then integrate the circuit downwind.
There is often a mandatory or preferential side for the downwind leg, you can find it on VFR maps, but I couldn’t find any free worldwide atlas. You can guess also : it’s made to avoid populated places or industrial areas.
