How do we expect these bugs and updates to be delivered to the Aircraft? Will these just happen automatically since everything is being downloaded each time you’re flying the Sim? Or will there be large batch updates that we are aware of?
The same way our FS2020 stuff was delivered. On startup during or near the package validation process.
Assuming you purchased from the Marketplace. But, Marketplace or not, what @Yuudai5178 said, the same as in 2020.
If you didn’t purchase from the Marketplace, you will be putting whatever aircraft you had in your Community directory in 2020 in your 2024 Community directory, and you’ll update them the same way you did before.
I would think many of the bugs are in the streamed content. These would not need to be downloaded to local machines, as they will be corrected at source. This is perhaps the only benefit to the “thin client” system being implemented.
I agree with this statement - for the most part.
In DCS when you buy a ‘module’ made by DCS it’s adjusted or ‘updated’ on the fly or as part of a DCS version update and anyone who bought that module gets the updated files.
It can be different when you buy or download 3rd party addons though.
Probably will be a ‘Marketplace’ solution for any 3rd party addons bought from there.
I just reread your question. The updates will be in SimUpdates and Marketplace updates of addons you’ve purchased through the Marketplace (as noted by the Development updates every week). I’m not sure what you’re asking about regarding “large batch”… will they be large files downloaded to your machine? Any updates to local code will be downloaded, else, the updates will be applied to the streamed content, as was noted. Given so far my install is only 12GB, and I have the Aviator edition, I’m not expecting update downloads bigger than a couple of GB in file size, if that’s what you’re wondering.
There’s supposed to be a small update next week, and they’re currently targeting a larger update on December 9th
Will we be getting “continuous small updates”? Yes, there will occasionally be hotfixes, but, not many. Most updates will be large batches of updates “installed” at once.
