HPG H160 - Community Discussion

  1. There is… Discord

  2. Work in progress i believe.

  3. Landing light switch is on the collective, but you have bind a key or use the light section on the tablet.

4,5 work in progress

ok thanks for that couldn’t see that at all earlier though i was looking lower down
While i dont regret the purchase $45 a very high price to pay to have work in progress on things a $20 helicopter got right i was also surprised by the amount of inops even cabin lights even captain sim got those working…just

Huge fan of Hype and the H-145 so just got this and its another incredible helicopter. I’m finding landing it though a real handful. The extra power and weight give it so much more momentum to deal with than the 145 has. The 160 definitely has pretty complex flight characteristics.

I think this where using a standard flight sim HOTAS doesn’t really do helicopter flying many favours. I guess thats why they’ve included a really well though out auto pilot feature in there via the tablet. That definitely makes things easier.
Anyway, amazing chopper. I’ll definitely be getting the action pack when its released.

Is the high flight idle power normal? I mean we can tilt the helicopter with the cyclic control on the ground without touching the collective, seems a bit unrealistic to me. Also the high flight idle power makes it a bit uncomfortable to hover/land. A little too much collective and i shoot up in the air, a little too less and i drop like a stone. My throttle (x45) doesn’t have the range of a “real” collective joystick which this helicopter might have been designed for. I really don’t wanna put non-linearity on my throttle axis.

Hey there @Sath68 - The high cyclic deflection is something we’re going to work out in the next flight model revision. There is a mix of HPG and Asobo issues there but ultimately you are correct and we don’t want that behavior. You’ll see unreasonably high cyclic loads in flight too and we’re going to address that.

If you are on our HPG Discord, there is a test pilot build available which adds back the Collective SEMA simulation and this assists in hover. (That same fix is also available on H145 test pilot builds). This makes it easier to adjust power for hover and is authentic to the real machine in both cases.

In the meantime, adding a small curve to your collective axis is usually not recommended but it will add precision around FLI 5 which is likely to work out to easier hover and that might be a suitable workaround.

:person_facepalming: …does the post from the developer literally the one above yours not give you a clue?

After flying a few others 160 is the best choppy out there price could be higher just got the cowan 222b what a mess cant even fly it

Bring the ‘reactivity’ all the way down to 0 from 100 in the ‘sensitivity’ menu of your collective, instead of adding a curve and keep it linear. This will give the helicopter what feels like more mass instead of reacting like a feather weight.

To start the engines you move the ENG1 and ENG2 switches on the overhead panel from OFF to IDLE.

Increase the collective slowly until the helicopter lifts off?

What controls are you using? You would normally assign the Helicopter Collective axis to a lever on your hardware. Have you ever flown any other helicopter in MSFS?

Might be a good idea to start with something simple like the Cabri G2 and watch some tutorials on YouTube. Very good intro by Airland Studios that also covers control configuration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK5eCt9Z_6M

Really ?

How do I set a FlightPlan for the H160?
For example I am trying to plan a flight from KGPI to KMSO.

I would use the wonderful GTN750 for this. The free PMS50 version is a good starting point and needs to be installed manually, see the Quick Start guide. Select “Flight Plan”, enter departure and destination, and you are done  You can also choose procedures it you want to.
Alternatively there is an CMA9000 FMS, not sure if this is implemented yet and in which state.

I ran the verification with no errors, and also installed the pay version.
But no flight plan!
Any suggestions?

Finally, got it all working!

Glad to hear! Have you visited HPG’s Discord yet? I know a lot of people don’t like that site, but the HPG server is really great, lots of good info and support.

Link from the official HPG website: HYPE

No because I find Discord extremely intrusive. it leaves all kinds of garbage in your PC.
I had to use REVO Uninstaller Pro to clean up my PC.

Fair enough! I only use the website, no installation :man_shrugging:
