I would stick to an i9-10900K. The i9-11900K seems to be a flop. From the reviews, only the i5-11600K is a good deal over the i5-10600K.
$540.00 USD for an i9-11900K displaying 1080P (LTT screenshot).
What a joke.
I’ll drag back out my old $540.00 PC and fly 1080P.
I think the point of testing at 1080p is so that the test is CPU-limited.
Good point.
I’ll toss the old PC back down in the basement.
That would seem to be a bang for buck argument in that case, since nobody would suggest the i5 11600 is faster than an i9 11900.
Except in FS, which is whats relevant here.
Care to share some benchmarks? I think I only saw one, and the difference was insignificant in MSFS.
There are a couple of sources by now, looks like the 11900k sucks at everything except FS - tough call for us flightsimmers:
The last source has the 11900k tied with the 5900x at 1440p (weird, as Intel leads in other FS resolutions/FS benchmarks).
Hope this helps.
I play in 4k (actually between 2k and 4k at 1600p ultrawide). In my case, the difference between 11900k and 5800x is insignificant (1fps).. I got 5800x because it is just better in everything else.
Yeah the higher you go, the less role the CPU plays. I play in 1440p and havent decided yet. Maybe I will go for a 11900 (non-k), as that seems to be significantly cheaper as compared to the k. Or maybe Ill go for the AMD… Hope I can wait until the DX12 update comes out, then the new benchmarks will show…
Limited by main thread…
Hi there,
I’m also really frustrated. I’m using the following system and already tried the “Process lasso” trick (deactivating the Windows dynamic Thread prioritization) and deactivating cpu-virtualiziation in my bios, does not work for me…
Getting around 28 fps on 1080p with RTX 3080… yes max settings but thats with the latest up-to-date-hardware…
Does anyone have an idea to some sort activate multithreading by another workaround?

In what situations? It can’t be like that all the time, surely?
Unfortunately all the time, just standing on the Airport with a cessna. I even turnes off all cpu-demanding features like traffic but the main thread won’t go further than 30ms => 30 fps…
I have a 9900K with a 3090FE, and I get more than that at Heathrow. After takeoff, and climbing a few thousand feet, I sometimes see my framerate go into the 80’s. You should fare better than me while at at busy airport as you are typically CPU bound there.
