Hype Performance Group & Developer David Amenta - Airbus H135 Helicopter

My latest build 349 ,crashes over the Alpes where the air is thin. I do not know what to do to avoid that I am not flying in real weather, only in clear sky at mid day in July. The Mont Blanc scenery is so majestic and needs to be enjoyed. Can the HYPE team introduce or advise of any alterations needed.

If they change the operating parameters of the H135 to be able to fly above what is possible in real life, I will no longer be downloading it

I have seen real helicopter, flying and rescuing distressed climbers over Mont Blanc at an altitude of 14.000 ft. the mountain terrains and glaciers are magical to fly over and enjoy, low and slow. the views from the aiguille de Midi on a clear day when I went up there is out of this world.

Hi Dr. Monir -

Thanks again for flying and enjoying H135!

For reference, the flight model and characteristics of H135 are realistic, however you may bend reality and obtain more performance for your mission by doing some of the following:

  • Engage HI NR (to the left of the engine controls), which will give you increased energy in the rotor system and more power in hover.
  • Unload extra passengers and baggage.
  • Reduce fuel payload to only that which is necessary (the AUX tank may be left empty, for still more than 2 hours of endurance).
  • Using the in-game WEATHER dialog, you may control the outside air temperature. Engine performance will be increased as the density altitude is lowered.

Here is a screenshot of the weather dialog with the temperature slider:

Check it out. Mont Blanc is well below the 135 operating ceiling.

Is it common for helicopters to be right hand drive?

Great… What is your point, exactly?

It depends on which way the rotor rotates as this will depend on which way the tail rotor applies anti torque.

So on an anticlockwise rotor ( which is most US helicopters) the tail rotor causes anti torque causes the right side to hang high so the pilot is on the right to help reduce this high point.

In most Euro helicopters they rotate clockwise so we sit on the left .

Now I am not sure why but unlike other Euro choppers the h135 rotates anticlockwise so we sit on the right .

That’s as simple as I can make it but there are people that tell stories about easier to sling load and better to operate radios but that is simply not correct it all comes down to the weight and balance and keeping the fuselage level as possible.

In which Euro choppers do you sit on the left?
Every Euro chopper I know you sit on the right…

Thank you Dave.
After taking your advise I manage to land safely on top of Mont Blanc and also hover over the Aiguille de Midi , with Chamonix Mont Blanc Valley in view below. Great and amazing scenery, you made it possible for us to enjoy and sample using a very promising helicopter .

The helicopter I know that have pilot normally sits on the left is MD500 series (does Mi-8 pilot sits on the left normally? in DCS it is left)… I noticed other helicopters normally pilot sits on the right, like Bell-407, Eurocopters, Agusta, Gazelle etc.

Maybe due to the fact that you have to keep your hand on cyclic at all times (normally right hand), and would be easier for your left hand to flip switches, push buttons etc if you sit on the right side?

yep, pilot is left but a Mi8 have a three-(wo)man crew, so the pilot don’t need to touch the middle-console.

the explanation of why this place (sorry, in french) :

There is no need to modify the 135 parameters to fly high. It can go to 20,000, Blanc tops at around 14. That’s my point.

I was replying to @flyingmonir who wanted the parameters changed. Perhaps you should advise him on how to accomplish his goal.

You mean the (wo)pilot?

Thanks everyone for the feedback, we’re making the best helicopter possible for our users so it’s always appreciated.

As always, please remember to be well to each other, our devs and Asobo :innocent:
