Since this patch has broken the game more than it already used to be and that the Longitude is even more messier than initially and has no fuel fix (thanks Asobo) I am going to switch to another sim but I am unsure which one to?
Between P3D and X-Plane 11 which one is the best for me to transfer to ?
EDIT : I don’t own any of them, just MSFS 2020 so far.
You don’t have either currently? I’d personally just wait until they sort this out. I may go back to FSX for a bit but that is just because I have hundreds of dollars invested in scenery and plane addins. Either one will cost you some $$$ to get and get up to a decent level. You be better off waiting it out, unless you have money to blow. And if you do I’d probably lean toward XP11.
I don’t have any of them no…On the financial aspect I am okay and I expect to have to buy aircrafts and some addons but at least I feel it will be smoother and more enjoyable.
I’m getting the op already owns both, in which case they don’t need us to answer the question.
I would say though… why do you have to pick one? Just use whichever one you feel like using on any particular day.
I’m sure you’ll be back to MSFS when the next update comes along
Edit: ok you beat me to it. I already have both but I doubt I’ll go back to either. I a, due to update my pc this weekend so I MAY boot up Xplane just to see how it looks with my new specs, but MSFS is the winner here
Keep in mind they will all have you cursing and pulling your hair out dealing with config files, setup, conflicts, etc. Flight sims are enjoyable to fly (hopefully) not always to setup.
This. As much of a headache as this title is rn, it is nothing compared to XP (can’t say for P3D, but I suspect it isn’t a whole lot better). At least this game isn’t one long list of plugin after plugin just to get it to not look like a scene in Lego Batman.
Edit: Oh, and don’t forget having to pay for AI traffic, weather, ATC, etc… and you will STILL have the same problems this game has. Any update for any one of the plugins can break the rest of the install which is just super fun!
agree with all my flight simmers here, i have both, trust me its difficult to go back to either of them, infact both p3d/xp11 look dated, so i agree we have to wait for the hotfix etc…you can get i think dcs basic platform for free, and fly around some combat programs all free, its quite a laugh and is easy to install…as i say it used to be free for the basic, but good fun…!
If you don’t have either P3D or XP, don’t waste money. Those are far worse. And MSFS is literally a piece of gold we don’t derserve. Yes MSFS right now has issues but nothing deal-breaking or can’t be fixed. It’s just a matter of when and not if these issues will be fixed. The logitude or the Airbus aren’t the only two aircraft in the world. There’s an infinite number of them. This sim comes with 30 aircraft (if you bought the prem. deluxe edition). Try them and see which one suits you better.
P.S. P3D and Xp11 also have their fair share of issues. Even the study-level God of the flight sim world PMDG aircraft have embarrassing issues that they still haven’t fixed despite plenty of evidence confirming the bugs. In XP, the flight factor 777 and 767 still don’t have the capability to input wind aloft data. The list goes on and on. Don’t think the grass on the other side is greener. It never was and never will be.
Eight raises a good point I would get into DCS if you want to kill time. It’s free (least to start) and if you have any interest in mil planes it’s amazing. I bounce back and forth between the two. DCS will bring something to the table FSX, P3D, MSFS2020, XP11 doesn’t have. An amazing F18… And if you aren’t into study level planes they have some cheap low-fidelity planes to fly as well.
Don’t read much into the hype that these other programs are far worse!
I have all of them and still use XP11 extensively for commercial aircraft.
The Zibo Boeing 737 is a free plane and is on par with the best out from anyone else.
If you have a decent computer it will run XP11 just fine. Mine certainly does.
As for the scenery it’s not eye candy like MSFS but when flying high altitude it doesn’t really matter anyway.
XP11 default planes are okay and do work correctly unlike this video game.
Take the XP11 or P3D bashing with a grain of salt!
I’ve been simflying on all of them. I have also got hundreds of pounds invested in P3d. That many add ons, that have inevitably slowed down the simulation, due to increased CPU overheads.
The future is with MSFS 2020. They seem determined to fix bugs and further development seems assured. Not to mention the community developers, from whom we can easily install and uninstall modifications.
If you don’t own any other, be aware, I recently looked at five add on light aircraft for P3d. The five would have cost £150! That’s well over the price of a premium delux 2020 install. If you go for P3d, be prepared to spend a wad on add ons. Orbx will give you a nice world scenery for several hundred more.
Nope, I’d stay put for a while. When Aerosoft release the CRJ for MSFS we will have a highly advanced simulation. Oh, and get ready for Multi Crew Experience! We will soon have a voice controlled First Officer (co pilot) and I guarantee that will be a big addition.
I have both Sims installed. P3d is only of use to me now is for its advanced simulated aircraft. In time, all those will be on 2020.
I am just playing XP11. I have my Arrow 3 fully functional, VOR/DME included. A free 737 (Zibo), and ORBX has BEAUTIFUL sceneries. The game runs really smoothly with an average computer. The glass cockpit doesn’t kill my FPSs (AND I don’t have to lower the refresh rate to ‘low’ for getting good performance), and everything works correctly. Installing and configuring basic stuff is easier in XP also, actually, it is pretty much like MSFS in that regard, you copy and paste addons to a folder, and that’s it. I am not investing a lot of time installing hundred of addons since I just want to fulfill my desire for real GA planes and real airliners, I want to fly working planes basically and I decided I want to focus on 2 or 3 airports and a single region for now.
I’m a P3D user myself, but I would recommend X-Plane 11, because you get get a lot from it for free—including a near study level 737.
Both P3D and X-Plane are mature, stable, and self-contained sims. The only thing you might miss is the satellite generated scenery (although there is an app for X-plane called Ortho4xp where you can generate your own scenery). While people might say FS2020 is the future, that maybe so, but judging from its current state, there is a long way to go.
