Hi there, Is Multiplayer popular in MSFS 2020? I am just curious some day I would like to participate in Multiplayer.. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Depends on who you ask, some people like it, some people don’t.
There’s plenty to participate in though, have a look here:

Thanks Mort and thanks for the link. I’m just curious what others think of Multiplayer also…
I personally enjoy how effortless it can be. I routinely go flying with some of the other forum moderators and have an absolute blast. However there are some components missing that would make multi-player more enjoyable, probably the biggest is shared cockpit functionality.
Is there a certain plane that you use to fly in the multiplayers?
It really depends on what we want to do.
Usually, when flying with others, we are doing a scenic tour, exploring new areas or looking at photogrammetry. For those types of flights I usually pick an aircraft that has a nice mix of speed but one that can still go low and slow, like the Cessna 172.
Other times we look to do short flights with fun landings at the end. For this, the bird of choice differs but I tend to use the turbo-props as they can fast, but still low and slow. There is a hilarious video on YouTube where @JuiceBox7535, myself and one other moderator did some landings at Lukla.
While it doesn’t happen often occasionally we will do a flight in the 320 (with or without the FlyByWire mod). So it really depends on what we are wanting to do and where.
Sounds like a lot of fun , I will have to give it a try.. and thanks for the info…
No problem.
Do check out the link that @MortThe2nd provided above. Once you are in that forum category, you should see a “Calander” button, which will make it easier for you to find events. You may also want to look at the multiplayer categories to see if there are any groups worth joining.
One final thought is you may want to try the community Discord server. You can join it by clicking the Discord link on the forums top-navbar (if you are using a Desktop/Laptop), it is the link between the Facebook and searches icons. The community server has several voice and text channels you can use to chat with others, and I believe it has a system for organising flight events.
If you have multiplayer turned on, you’re participating in multiplayer every time you fly. It’s just very underwhelming as there’s no real interaction between players. Each has their own ATC that’s oblivious to other players’, there’s no communication unless you use a 3rd party tool like Discord. You don’t see other players on your map on your FMS (only real or AI traffic). You don’t see other players’ plane models or liveries if you don’t also have those same models and liveries installed. It’s a very disconnected multiplayer experience as a whole.
Now, scheduled group flights can be a lot of fun. A little chaotic, but fun nonetheless. If you haven’t participated in any, I would recommend it.
I would be interested in the group flights..
@MortThe2nd posted the link above to the community events calendar. Check it out and join in.
Well, we ( fuzzy flyers) have big fun with our Robins Cap10.
We are a group of 4, sometimes 5 and have installed a custom livery.
In my opinion, it’s best to fly a plane with good sight around from within the cockpit, such as the cap10 or VL3, for example.
Have fun up there, happy ![]()
Here is a setup guide:
One easy stress-free way to get into multiplayer is join in some YouTube multiplayer streams.
Here are a couple of Links to some past streams to give you an idea what they are like (view in YouTube so you can see the player chat):
You’d also be very welcome in the events I run on Fridays.

All the best.
Multiplayer is definitely fun. It adds adventure, a great learning experience, and opportunities to fly in areas you might not normally go to.
The fly-ins and formation flights are fun, but shared cockpit is where it gets really cool. I’m surprised that’s not way higher up on the wishlist.
The CRJ is just begging for fully working shared cockpit.
I’m also kinda surprised ( not that I’ve looked ) that Asobo doesn’t have a Red Bull Air race style series/server, with a pylon course at a different city each month, then run competitions.
