I have to install "Frankfurt - Points of Interest" to be able to start the discovery flights Berlin and Pennine Alps?

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

I bought yesterday the MSFS 2020 Premium Deluxe Edition on steam. After troubles with crashing on desktop at the starting loading screen (hint: Optimizing this game in the Nvidia App solved this problem) I ran into another more minor problem.

I want to do a discovery flight in Berlin. I have downloaded everything german related, but the game insists that I still have to download the “Frankfurt - Points of Interest” package (Screenshot at the end of this post).

I am just able to find the packages “Discovery Flight - Berlin” in version 1.0.17 (up to date) and the Points of Interest Packages “Germany” v1.2.1.1 (up to date) and “Germany, Austria Switzerland” v0.9.7 (up to date).

I can not find the package “Frankfurt - Points of Interest” in the content manager and I wonder why the sim needs a Frankfurt package if I just want to fly around Berlin? Funny enough the Discovery Flight Frankfurt is no problem to start.

I installed nearly everything and I can enter every discovery flight except Berlin and Pennine Alps which both want me to install the mysterious “Frankfurt - Points of Interest” Package. The other locations in Germany (Frankfurt, Freiburg), Austria (Vienna) and Switzerland (Zurich) are accessible in the Discovery Flights.

I am also able to start from Berlin Schönefeld Airport in the world map and to fly over Berlin then, but I wonder why MSFS 2020 just don’t let me in Berlin and Pennine Alps in the Discovery Flights.

Thx for help in advance!

Hi @dragoncrawl1980 and welcome to the forums!
I have moved your topic into User Support Hub > Install, Performance & Graphics for community assistance.

Click on the white burger logo next to the blue box logo, in order to show the contents of the packages. And use the right search string, with “germany” you wont see it.

Maybe you also need to install the free World Update 18. Check in the Marketplace if you own it. If not download it.

Thx for the info, but even with the blue burger menu no “Frankfurt - Points of Interest”.

Thank you, but in my case the “Frankfurt - Points of Interest” doesn’t appear.

This is all I get with the search phrase “Frankfurt” and the white burger menu.

Could you check in the Marketplace if you also have the free World Update 6 installed ?, could be the Frankfurt POI comes with that package.

Yes, I have World Update VI and installed.

Could you try to uninstall and re-install WU6 to check if Frankfurt POIs shows up ?

I have uninstalled both world updates VI & XVIII

and reinstalled again

but unfortunately still no “Frankfurt - Points of Interest”

Re your first screenshot, have you actually pressed Go to Content Manager? You haven’t said.

Yes, normally the missing packages, which have to be installed, are shown then for the specific discovery flight. But in the case of Discovery Flight Berlin and Pennine Alps when I click on “Go To content manager” there are shown just all not yet installed packages (landing challenges, EDDM Airports and other stuff).

This seems to be a server side bug.
Yes, it’s a bug, according to the tread
”Are POIs / Buildings removed after SIMU 2 in Germany Frankfurt?”
(Not allowed to include links, do a search for it)
in Bug Reporting Hub → Scebery and Airports

The moderators might want to ask the devs if they can check.
And, just in case any moderator has MSFS 2020 still installed, check if they can install the mentioned POIs.

It is allowed to include links from others posts/topics  : Are POIs / Buildings removed after SIMU 2 in Germany Frankfurt?

This issue has been reported for msfs-2024 that is why I did not mentioned it but could it also impact #2020 then ?

I have #2020 installed, I tried to unistalled the Frankfurt POIs package from the content manager but it stays listed as “Not Installed” and I had no issue to re-download it. Maybe I’ll try to delete the corresponding folder using Windows explorer to have it unlisted (not sure how it works).

Thx for your hint.

I already saw your mentioned thread, but I don’t think that it is related to my issue, because there the problem are the missing POI when you fly over Frankfurt (and that the bug is MSFS 2024 related, I have MSFS 2020). My problem is, that two unrelated regions, Berlin and Pennine Alps, want the “Frankfurt - Points of Interest” package, which is missing for me in the content manager. But I can do a Discovery Flight over Frankfurt! and I can fly over Berlin, when I start in the Airport Schönefeld in the free flight world map. So I suspect that in reality I have all needed files installed, but for some reason MSFS 2020 doesn’t recognise it in the Discovery Flights. Ok, I have not tested if I see all the POI in the city (I will test this later today, latest tomorrow), but I think there is a deep error when even the Pennine Alps require a Package of Frankfurt. It would be the same if a Discovery Flight New York would require the World Update Australia or City Update Sydney.

How can I ask a moderator to move this thread to the bug section?

Since no one else has reported the issue (as of today) what I would recommend is to open a zendesk ticket to get direct support from Microsoft: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
In order to be moved back to the Bug Reporting Hub an issue needs to be replicable.

Thank you I will do.

Do you know if the MSFS 2020 Support is able to read threads here? If it would be the case I would link this thread in the ticket. it would save me much time not to write everything again with screenshots.

Yes, they have access to the forum so add the link to your topic that contains valuable information.

Thank you very much
