I got in first try exact same error. I re-created rolling.cache and cleaned app-data folder ( cache, dce, scenery** , simobjects..c152 ) . After that it works fine.
Hey thanks for your help,
Just to be sure, are these the folders to delete?
- DCE
- Scenery Cache
- Scenery Index
- SimObjects
And then the rolling cache within MSFS2020 itself?
Thanks again
Milo
Hi,
it was in special for the āAuckland discovery flightā , but may be it helps anyway.
Yes, this folders and also ācacheā. Removal of the simobjects may be as a second step, because this contains some āstatesā about the planes.
The rolling cache file ( ROL..CCC ) can you also remove in explorer and MSFS recreate it auto in default location. I just often clean it within the game-menu itself to be sure that my āownā folder is used ( I assume rolling.cache was the main culprit ).
A note related to this:
There is a topic where we discuss that problem. Unfortunality not yet a final consense about āwhat cause thatā. Some user report that underclock the gpu or disabling xmp mode was helpfull, which match with an assumption about a system problem in special in long-time flight. But as sayd, not final clarified.
Thanks MichaMMA I will try that.
Ah thank you MichaMMA,
I just had a look in that same AppData folder, but I canāt seem to find the folder just called ācacheā?
However when I look under Local Disk(C:)/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/MFSF, I see this one - is this the one you mean?
I just donāt want to delete anything important ![]()
Thanks!
Milo
Ahhh it happened again, now even sooner just after takeoff from YMHB. This is driving me crazy ![]()
Run the following commands in Powershell (admin rights)ā¦
Go through each of the following steps one at a time. Copy each line, one at a time , paste it into the Dos window (crtl + V) and press return
and it will then run. Wait until each runs and finishes before you move on to the next one.
When you are completely finished, Restart your computer and then try to see in MS2020 will start and run properly
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /checkhealth
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /scanhealth
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth
sfc /scannow
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
RESTART your computer as the last step. Then go for a test flight.
Thank you! How often should I do this? Before each flight? Every now-and-then? Or just when it crashes again (if it does)?
Hi,
hmmm.. I have the cache folder within %appdata%\Micro⦠too. At least this is since a while so.
The folder within the steam installation folder was original not meant, but it contains the same shadercache files (psocache). I have also such a folder in the steam install folder, and it seems an older one, and I cleaned also that one. Then started steam+msfs and all works fine and a new ācachā folder is again created with appdata\miā¦\cache. If unsure just rename the folder e.g. old_cache ![]()
May be the difference is, that I have installed MSFS in a steam-lib which is not on system-drive, Iāam not sure ( I think more correct is the appdata folder for dynamic files ).
Ah, and the āsfc /scannowā commands , etc.. Its a windows system-check. Just do it one time. Recommended in special if windows crashed completely, or in other kind of issues. It just ensure all windows system files are correct.
I do it after a Windows update.
Iāve never really had crashes using Xbox, or my PC since using MSFS. My laptop would crash from getting too hot. Anyway, have had many CTD situations even with nearly all addons turned off.
@faceplantmilo @MichaMMA Sorry for the tags but our man @xBloodRavenx189 has solved the issue for everyone experiencing the same consistent CTD around Auckland area especially after the world update. I thank you graciously my friend, people like you are what make this community so special.
It turns out it required a C++ Redist repair. I repaired all of the Redists from the āApps and Featuresā just in case. For the fix go to this link - VCRUNTIME140.dll Error - #511 by xBloodRavenx189
as mentioned, was in my case not a vcruntime.issue.. just only the usually " clean the rolling cache file " thing ![]()
I till now canāt understand why the updater not simple can do such tasks automaticly. I would raise a wish-topic about, but find that there already one exist :
I updated the New Zealand scenery from Microsoft and since then the New Zealand scenery / simulator runs slow. If I go somewhere else ie Sydney Australia my frame rate / similar runs normal a lot faster. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the update for New Zealand but made no difference. So needs an update to fix this issue.
