I Thought MS Store dlc Did Not Transfer to Steam

Hi.

I am sure Jorg said that the MS Store and Steam platforms did not speak to each other where purchased FS dlc was concerned.

I have FS20 on MS Store with various dlc, mostly airports. I opted for Steam for FS24 as I didn’t really use many of the dlc anymore and wanted a “fresh start”, especially when I saw that many day one purchasers were having issues with dlc scenery conflicts.

Today when I booted up FS24 I had a message that my dlc had successfully transferred across, which puzzled me because of what Jorg had said.

So I restarted the game and when I checked my library there were my airport dlc purchased through the FS20 MSStore marketplace. Though they weee disabled due to the fact Asobo have disabled all non-aircraft dlc.

If the two platforms do not talk to each others, why am I seeing MS Store purchased dlc listed in my Steam FS library? :man_shrugging:

Steam does not sell MSFS addons. Everything you buy in Marketplace is coming from MS Store, even if you own Steam version of MSFS. Steam only sells credits you use to pay for addons in Marketplace, nothing else.

So any FS20 addons I have via MSStore marketplace will transfer to Steam FS marketplace?

Like I said I’m sure Jorg said they wouldn’t. I guess I must have misunderstood him.

Correct.

I doubt he said this. Addons from Marketplace are linked to your xbox account, not Steam account. It’s been working like this since FS2020 release 4 years ago.

If I have the Steam versions of MSFS 2020 and 2024, and I play MSFS 2024 on XCloud via Game Pass, will I have access to my stuff from the Steam versions?

Thank you for the response peeps!

On double checking the linked FAQ:

If I switch platforms from having MSFS 2020 in MS Store to MSFS 2024 on Steam, will my purchases transfer over?

Yes, your purchases will follow you if you sign in using the same Xbox Live account.

Yes, it seems I had misunderstood.

Thanks again.
