Air traffic - AI traffic/Computer traffic behaves fairly realistically. In FS2020 it was absolute chaos, or it was just nowhere to be seen. The schedule seemed totally random, there was no relationship sometimes between the airport and the activity. The two same boring ugly looking models/fake airlines would keep landing, and they would land in a completely bizarre unrealistic fashion, often coming in at super high slopes, hitting the runway super hard, not even at an angle so it was totally bare minimum animations, often going the wrong speeds, or slowing down or speeding up way WAY WAY too quickly, getting off the runway <1/3rd of the way down where in reality it would typically be 2/3rds of the way down. Planes would sometimes not even land, just hover over the runway and then go somewhere random and disappear. Sometimes planes would land at the same time, inside each other, or basically touching each other. Or take off and land at the same time. It was just ATROCIOUS. I was very upset by it.

Sound engine- Planes flying past actually sound sorta realistic, not just like something out of a cartoon. Often a plane flying past would sound like a horrible rumble of completely arbitrary noise rather than a plane flying over. There was little to no accurate doppler effect either. Eventually with a later update they added some more realistic noise of a jet engine, but it was WAY too loud, distorted, and didnât really make sense relative to what the plane was doing or where it was located relative to you. Also I noticed which really got on my nerves, there was always this tinny, out of phase ambience/reverberation/delay that attempted to make the planes sound like they were in a space, or environment, but it ended up just sounding really odd and also, there seemed to be a transition zone, where planes would suddenly reach a distance at which theyâd transition into this new atmosphere/space and go from an engine propeller texture to a wishy washy reverbed noise that didnât sound real at all, very odd indeed. On a side note it would actually be quite nice if planes flying over at like 20k feet or 30kft would actually produce a feint gentle noise of a plane flying over, it could simply be a recording from real life, it doesnât have to be a complex artificial sound.

Cars on the road behave fairly realistically- In fs2020 and from what Iâve seen in fs2024, cars fly around at all the wrong speeds, in all the wrong directions, on top of each other, inside walls, over bridges, under water, and never slow down for intersections and go like over 50 mph down virtually every street there is, even if itâs a 10-20mph zone or 30mph street. Iâm not soo worried about the low poly 3d models they have, however I would say they could do with a bit of an improvement, maybe in terms of variation or in terms of having some more varied vehicle types like some transit vans and some big and medium sized lorries or even buses, imagine seeing london buses in London! Thatâd be awesome.
-
Render distance of other players/plane models- In fs2020 depending slightly on the size of the airplane model, there was around a 2km max range at which a plane would render. Only I think the 747 or the A320 would render passed 5km and often not even that. I just want an option to increase the render distance a bit, I donât mind if I lost a tiny bit of FPS, but its so immersion breaking to see your plane disappear after a couple thousand feet (if its small), and especially if you want to film cinematic shots of your plane flying over hills or into the distance or up into the air high up, or you just want to feel like the world is alive beyond a mile radius.
-
Building generation/Building models- Iâm going to have to say that the buildings in fs2020 were just for the most part, quite atrociously poor and ugly looking, and unrealistic in size and shape and type, and even though after you got above 10kft, you couldnât really tell they were bad, it still didnât look all that brilliant. All I really ever wanted is for houses to at least look like they belong in the area. It would be more important to get the house to look right for the general city/region/area itâs in. I think fs2020 would have even looked better if theyâd made like 10 accurate models for each country of typical houses and had AI just place them where it seemed good to place them. It wouldnât necessarily be accurate in terms of locations, but at least they would they would look like they belonged there and it would visually look right, and if you werenât from the area or familiar with the area, you wouldnât know it wasnât the way the houses looked on that street. I really believe the 3d buildings in fs2020 were an abysmal failure, they made me sick whenever I looked at them, big cities often had virtually zero buildings that looked like they belonged there, or they had 100s of thousands of 1 story bungalows where in real life there was basically only about 2% as many bungalows and more like 98% 2-3 story houses. If youâre going to allow people to walk around in FS2024, it seems reasonable that youâd want to make houses and buildings look more like they could be real. They donât have to be super realistic, super high res, super geographically accurately placed, but what matters is that they look like they could be real, or fit in, and in fs2020 hardly anything looked like it fit in at all, everything looked all the wrong colours, wrong shapes, styles, textures, everything looked muddy and boring and simplistic and weird, and not natural or like it fit in. I would honestly buy fs2024 if they got this right, JUST for the sake of walking around on foot, not even for flying, thatsâ how important that one is to me.
