I will only buy FS2024 if these things are true->

There aren’t many simulators, so thats not saying much.

I mean how many serious world flight sims like msfs have there really been? 5-10 ever?

I don’t think my expectations are that high.

In some ways it can take more effort to make a bad product than a half decent one. In many areas, flight sim has been curiously bad, where it seems less effort could have produced a better result. Like my idea about 3d building generation, it would be pretty good if they just went around every country looking for maybe 10-20 standard building types, like a typical house, a typical shopping center, a typical church, a typical flat/skyrise a typical mansion, and a typical school and a typical factory, and just placed them around where AI thought it was best or based on open street map data or something.

I haven’t played fs2024, so I dont know the other issues, but that’s what I wanted out of fs2020 that I didn’t get, at least what I could think of last night, I could probably list another 10 but those were the main things I could think of at that moment.

It’s hard to tell exactly from video footage but it seems many of these things have been poorly done or not done at all.

It’s pretty ridiculous when the developers keep telling us lies about how the game is going to be… I remember when fs2020 was advertised for it’s doppler effect, I think the doppler effect was pretty much just a slight pitch variation when the plane goes past, it was very very stupid and sounded like something from an old sim city game or something, pathetic.

The game was flawed in so many ways, and you’d think you could at least get the small stuff right, but they couldn’t even do that, they couldn’t even make cars go the right speed down roads… they couldn’t even get houses to look like houses, so it’s a pretty serious flaw when you cant get the basics right.

The internet is full of whining

I would say generally speaking criticism of games like MSFS has been looked upon badly by forums and people on the internet, I’ve been banned from several forums for being critical of fs2020, people have attacked me relentlessly for criticising things online, most people just suck up to the industry and hate dissenters or critiques, people are really overprotective of their little hobby, you can’t criticize it or they feel like you’re criticizing them.

I have not bought the game at all, after my experience with fs2020 I have every urge not to buy the game, but of course I do love flying, and I love planes, so of course I haven’t given up on the hope.

If the devs cant even be bothered to get the basics right, and make AI traffic work for example, then why should I be bothered to give them 100$? They can’t even get the basics right.

Grand Theft Auto has all of the things on this list. You should check it out.

  1. Why shouldn’t it just be right by default?

Makes no sense. Why do a ■■■■■■ job and just excuse it by saying, well you can get 3rd party addons?

  1. No they’re not, at least in fs2020. Im not talking about in cockpit, Im talking about in 3rd person and in drone mode, the planes sounded nothing like real life, and always had this weird rumbling reverb that made no sense.

  2. You ever take off and land? You’ll be below 5k ft at some point.
Again, just because you wont notice up at 30k feet isn’t a reason to not get it right, at least so that the cars drive at the right speeds and don’t drive inside each other on the wrong LANES going the wrong way down the road for the country they’re in. It’s very immersion breaking when you come into land or are just taking a scenic flight at 1-10k feet.

Seeing a lorry going back and forth on a loop at 50mph down a little cul-de-sac where most cars are barely going 10mph in real life.

  1. You probably never looked. The render distance for planes is very low in fs2020. Like turn into a pixel and disappear at around 1-2km, if the plane isn’t a 747, in which case it can linger around for maybe 5 miles.

  2. Im not talking about photogrammetry? Im talking about autogen.
Photogrammetry is fine, except that it can be too dark, or too cluttered or low res sometimes, but good photogrammetry, can be really nice.

Its the autogen that’s ■■■■.

I can’t go elsewhere… that’s the problem. Xplane is basically all there is, and that barely even has satellite imagery, and certainly isn’t great by any means.

Hi Notldentity24
I think you are strict butand I suppose you are a perfectionist
If you fly with Jet A320 it is less important to see the landscape if you have beautiful clouds and weather.
If you purchase airports you improve the game knowing that there was also with the Premium version more base airports
Personally I also like flying and I bought the Standard version on sale.
I think this game can only improve and it also offers others concepts.
But I could be very disappointed is that it does not take into account the MSFS2020 bugs.
But i agree with you that if you like flight VFR it is more important to see a nice landscape and in that case personaly in France i have to buy France VFR sceneries which cost a price.
I hope that with MSFS2020 you found pleasure to fly I consider that it is better than my old FS but with also nice Pmdg planes.

Your opinion is your opinion and I’m not really here to judge it, but I’m shocked that this would be #3 on your “I will only buy if list”. Of all the things I would prioritize in the sim, the weird car behavior probably wouldn’t crack my top 50. I would like to see it get improved but there are SO many things I’d rather see fixed first.

Trains. I want trains.

I said in no particular order didnt I?

But the reason this is on my list is because if they can’t even get basics right, then why should I expect them to get anything else right?

Would actually make the realism go up so hard.

Imagine seeing trains coming in by the airport?

Wouldnt even be hard. I’d prefer trains than boats.

Also in future it would be cool to see a train simulator come out of this tech altogether

Your list only has five things, so even if it’s #5 on your list, that’s equally surprising to me.

I wouldn’t call traffic a basic thing from a development standpoint. I imagine it would take a significant amount of time and resources to program traffic in a believable way and for the time being they probably wanted to focus on other aspects of the sim. Currently, it’s only implemented as more of an ambience thing - meant for you to see movement in the background but not intended to be focused to closely on.

FYI, for those who have not seen this thread already:

This topic got me asking myself what it would take to get ME to buy fs24.

  1. Offline play.
  2. Better performance - the code really needs to be optimized.
  3. Better multi-screen support.

It goes without saying that the current buggy mess isn’t even up for consideration as an option.

New versions are supposed to offer improvements in basic functionality like more efficient and effective visuals. It’s 50/50 whether this mess can be brought up to snuff in the next 4 years.

2020 still works, but it’s only by comparison to 2024 that it looks better. The actual render engine performance is not so great.

Maybs I’ll ring in the new year by buying a couple of versions of doom for sale at deep discounts on the XBox holiday sale (ends Jan 2). They’ll run with all settings maxed out, same as Forza Horizon 4 at 4096 x 2160 @ 60 fps without strain.
