I9 9900K + RTX 2080 TI = Low FPS ?!?!

Daviid,

What level are you running the Sim on, need some details on your settings. If you are trying to run this sim on Ultra, as stated in Toms Hardware testing, there is not many hardware scenarios that are going to run this at more that 30-35 FPS on current GEN hardware on ULTRA PRESET.

Especially:
Object LOD
Terrain LOD
Volumetric Clouds
Buildings
Anistropic Filtering
Texture Super Sampling
Terrain Shadows
Light Shafts

That is not true. I run this game on ultra settings and actually even more than ultra. 8x8 instead of 6x6 and 16x anistropic filtering instead of 8x. 140 rendering scale instead of the default 100 and get 40+ FPS at places like Innsbruck with 100% traffic, vehicles and people on the tarmac.

i9 9900KF 4.0Ghz boost 5.0Ghz, Waterforce 2080ti 11GB OC, 64gb Ram, 1TB M.2. If I had the two 2080ti’s like I was going to until I found out the 3080ti will be out soon and be much faster, the FPS would be 60 probably. I also overclocked my GPU and RAM slightly. My whole system is custom watercooled so it is possible.

MSFS 2020 doesn’t support 2 video cards.

No. 2x 2080 ti will not work. It is weird right now. On multi monitor it did work but on single monitor it only uses 1 gpu. I have the same setup 9900k OC at 5ghz all cores, 2x 2080 ti, 64gb 3200mhz ram and game is installed on 2tb 860 evo ssd and with 400mbs internet.

Isn’t full Ultra like 200 on the LOD all settings maxed. You mentioned running at 140 of 200 LOD. Just to be clear, your saying you get 40+ frames running ever setting maxed in an area like New York City with Multiplayer Live traffic and streaming traffic.

I think from the article that running everything full up, your not going to get 60 FPS consistant across the sim, especially in high demand areas like the big cities.

I would not think Innsbruck is the gold standard to test if you can run full ULTRA consistantly with 60+ FPS.

It is impossible to get 60fps constant on all Ultra with all sliders that you can think of maxed out. I am currently running on that setting and with overclocked 9900k and 2080ti worst fps i get using an Airliner is around 20-25 on KFJK, KLAX, OMDB. KSFO is a bit better where it gets to around 30fps (All in cockpit view and on ground taxiing). Once airborne fps gets better at 35+fps. He meant 140 on render scale which means if native is at 1080p he is running it around 1440p resolution. Like other people have stated, we should not expect to play this game at 60fps with ultra details.30 fps is playable.

Hi @DaviidPSG07

i have exact the same config, too:

  • Intel Core i9-9900K - 3.6GHz
  • MSI Z390 GAMING EDGE AC
  • MSI RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO
  • Corsair CMW16GX4M2C3200C16W RGB (4x8Go DDR4 3200 PC25600) = 32Go

I run at 20fps minimum at JFK Airport and average 35- 66 fps with Ultra settings @ 3440x1440!
For 4k this fps should be only slightly lower!

At wich speed and temp does your GPU runns?
At wich speed does your CPU runns?
Whats your AVX settings for CPU?

I have some ideas, maybe it works for you!

Yes the game is not optimized, but you should be in the same range as me!
So I think some of your Computer settings are wrong or an update is missing…

Regards
Alpha

I have a solution found for me with settings on ULTRA.
When starting the App I have around 15-20 FPS, but as soon I set the ATC to go for a separate window the FPS are going up to 43 and higher during flight.

Thats just reading the FPS of that window, not the game.

I agree with this, less focus on frame rate and more focus on fluidity feel and experience with the eye.

Hello Everyone

I appreciate your help with this issue when the micfrosoft Simulator is running only 19 or 22 FPS in Ultra mode I try to re install the nvidia drivers I play in low performance and not having a goods results

Sometimes when I try to restart or back to the Ultra settings the game stop or is freeezing and give 1 FPS

My Specs
Intel Core

i9-9900K - 3.6GHz (16CPUs)
EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 XC Black Edition Gaming, 8GB GDDR6, Dual HDB, RGB LED, Placa Trasera de Metal, 08G-P4-2082-KR
Pro Samsung SSD 2To NVMe M.2 - 970 EVO
Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB DDR4-3200 módulo de - Memoria (32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz, 288-pin DIMM, Gris)
Watercooling Gigabyte Liquid Cooler 240

I change the settings on this file FlightSimulator CFG but not have any result

:astonished:  thank you for the hint, I really did not realise that.

4k is 64% more pixels than 3440x1440, so will be a huge drop in fps
The RTX3090 should sort that out though for a price

Try render scaling 100

For me now in 4K I have 35-40 FPS.
In airport or big city, 20-30. With traffic airport at 100, with live weather but without AI Traffic.

Yes, we need better multithreading, dx12 (how the hell microsoft own game doesn’t have it?), dlss, vrs and DFR (dinamic foveated rendering). I hope they will implement these features because many of our gpus can use them to improve performance a lot. Looking forward to VR!!

What Daviid said. You’re essentially having your card render at 7680x4320 at a scaling of 200.

We don’t really need that if they use dlss, vrs and FFR (or DFR for VR). What they need is to implement the current technology. What about dx12? Is the game improving with new feature HAGS from Microsoft?

Dear All Thanks for the help…

Even if a change the scaling to 100 and resolution as recommended 3840x2160 not have up to 15 FPs I think the problem is some setting or the config settings of the game. If I run at low end or meduim, give me 4 to 22 FPS at high end

I mean having a 2080 with 8 GB the total 22 FPs at high end?
I“ve watching other video cards for example 1070 TI with 70 FPS

What the standart FPS for 2080 anyone knows?

Ohhh, yeah, you’re probably suffering from one of the known issues then, which will hopefully be fixed sooner, rather than later.

My RTX 2080 Ti XC Ultra can run 4k, with the ultra preset settings, and low/no traffic, at about an average of 35 FPS. I’ve reduced my resolution to 2k, along with lowering various settings to high in the past few days though, and now I average 55 FPS quite consistently. I’m locked at 60 however, because I get CTDs otherwise.

I could certainly be getting even better rates at lower resolutions, and with higher settings, but I’m using a 50 inch Vizio tv for a monitor, and it just starts looking like pixelated ā– ā– ā– ā–  if I go any lower, lol.

I don’t think I’m getting the full potential either. I’m waiting to see what the next few updates bring, and if fixing some of the issues like yours means a boost for me also.

In the Alpha waves not having this types of issues at least we known the final version will be fixed or patch included. As you said I have to low the resolution to 2K and disable some features and now have 35 FPs at max…

For the other games Xplane or Prepar3d runs at 60 FPS maybe Vulkan needs to be inlcuded on this game…
