[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask= number
doesn’t do absolutely nothing in FS2020.
I tried “1” but it uses all cores anyways.
Unfortunately it does not work for me either.
I also have an i9 9900k and a RTX 2080ti like 32GB Ram.
I have tried both with and without hypertrading, but both times the value did not increase the frames
I really need to make another YT video explaining people while they are not getting more FPS with their high end gear.
Really looking forward to the RTX3090 coming out
Pretty wild, 9900K here with a 1080TI and a mixture of High and Ultra settings and Im getting a steady 40 pretty much everywhere.
Oh yeah, 3840x1600…
Sucks to hear other people not getting the full potential. The guys at Guru3D did a good benchmark on the game…
Tried following your suggestions. My in-game sim graphics settings did not change with changing Nvidia tuning. So is what’s going on like pipe diameters? In another words, if Nvidia settings are wide open (allow for highest possible graphics) and the sim graphics settings are more restrictive, i.e., lower res graphics, narrow diameter pipe, does the lowest graphics settings have the controlling effect. I would say that the main thing that I noticed by leaving my graphics settings at the combo ultra/high suggested by Spazzy Optimal settings for Flight Simulator - Nvidia - #73 by Spazzy and moving the Nvidia slider to higher quality settings is that the image definitely got better and was the best at the highest possible Nvidia allowance vs. the “optimal” setting recommended by Nvidia without affecting framerate much (a few fps).
So I was wondering if some graphics setting in the sim is already limiting me for fps, the “optimal” Nvidia tuning setting is limiting me for overall picture quality, and as I increase the Nvidia quality, I’m increasing the Nvidia pipeline diameter (and graphics quality) while not overcoming something that is/has been limiting my fps in the sim? Maybe it’s something other than my graphics settings like the cockpit instrument panel refresh rate?
I guess the basic question is how does Nvidia tuning play with whatever sim graphics settings you have and where should one ideally start with sim graphics settings to get the most out of Nvidia tuning? I did have DEV mode turned on and used its FPS counter to monitor the effects of Nvidia tuning - is that the only reason to have DEV mode turned on when Nvidia tuning?
Need more info:
What monitor/tv are you running?
What are the refresh rates and native resolution on it?
What other programs do you run in the background?
What resolution are you playing it at? If it is 4K and you are trying to fly through some highly detailed city, that FPS is understandable. I myself have an MSI RTX 2080S Gaming X Trio. But I play on 1920X1080. Anyways, Microsoft has now released a patch that allows 70-75 FPS on 2K gaming on a 2080Ti.
In the end, check your resolution. Hope this might help.
Hi I have looked at your reply and I noticed that I missed one instruction sorry. After you let Nvidia change your setting low-med-high or ultra you have to make the same changes in the Microsoft Flight Sim settings. With your hardware you should be able to run the sim without any problems. I will send you my settings in my next reply to you just copy them and you should be OK. While I am doing that could you please put your flight simulator in Developer mode and send me a screenshot.
Thanks
Until they tweak this game we all have to do our best to find those little settings that help. Limit other programs running at same time, and hope direct x 12 optimizations come soon.
Also when fiddling a lot it seems to kill the gpu memory. This game has sudden memory leaks that were not present earlier on in betas.
you can also try the cockpit tweak. But that actually didn’t work for me and created an odd fresh issue with sync.
Crossing fingers a major patch i on its way. By no later then fall.
First here are my system specifications:
Asus TUF Z390M-PRO GAMING (WI-FI)
Socket 1151 LGA
BIOS American Megatrends Inc. 2804 (04/15/2020)

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (TU106-400A) @ 1425 MHz
Shader Units: 2304 / Texture Units (TMU): 144 / Render Units (ROP): 64
GPU VRAM 8192 MB GDDR6 / 256-bit Bus @ 7000 MHz (Micron)
DirectX 12.0 (12_1) / OpenGL 4.6 / OpenCL 1.2 / Vulkan 1.1
Fixed, SSD - Bus: NVMe (17)
931.5 GiB (~1000 GB) Model #1 Type Fixed, SSD - Bus: NVMe (17)
Now on to the settings:
With this setting I am getting 36fps over New York City no lag or stutter.
Let me know how you make out?
You’re running it at 4K?
Here is are a couple of screen shoots over New York as you will see 44fps.
Now I am running it @ 2560X1440 my reason I did not like running it at 4K because it limits the refresh rate at 60hz I prefer running the simulator at 144hz refresh rate much more fluid picture.
What patch? I did not get anything through the game…
No patch they could be talking about the new Nvidia driver for Microsoft Simulator?
Here was the fix for me, I opened a ticket with MS as well:
OK. Thanks! After playing myself out having great fun with the sim last night, I have to do other things for the wife but will send a screen shot later this evening. Thanks for the advice. I’ll try to put it to good use!
Hmmmm! A lot of folk with good spec hardware [some better than mine] seem to be having performance issues.
I don’t know what I am doing right but I am getting a steady 55 FPS over London [1000ft in daylight] at 2560 x 1440 screen resolution.
Hardware:
CPU: Core™ i9-9900K 9th Gen processor
GPU: GeForce RTX 2080 Gaming OC
MOBO: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS MASTER
RAM: 32GB kit of Trident Z RGB 3200MHz 14-14-14-34
Storage: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2
Monitor: AORUS AD27QD Monitor
CPU is water cooled [Fractal Design Celsius S24 Hydro].
All stock speeds [no overclock] except Ram which is set to XMP1.
Windows 10 Pro x64 OS build 19041.450.
Latest [last time I looked] NVIDIA 450 Drivers Version 452.06.
NVIDIA Control Panel: Texture filtering quality = High quality.
MSFS 2020 is set to High end with no other tweaks.
So clearly it’s doable people.
Good luck.
addendum:
Of course it’s not really all about chasing frame rates per se. The goal is to achieve a smooth, stutter free performance.
My final [post bug fixes] settings will have me limiting my frames to probably 36 FPS.
Do you have Vsync on?
If you mean me!
Yes, Vsync is on.
