IF you are using a 1080p or a 1440p monitor, USE DLDSR with DLSS instead of native+TAA or Native+DLSS

You’ll alway loose FPS with DSR resolution increase you do need a bit of headroom if your going to try it or be ok loosing a few FPS try just using the first one above native that keeps the same ratio and go from there.

is it possible to somehow edit the Vsync percentages in the game? i.e. we currently have 100%, 50% and 33%. Is there any possibility to set 75%?

If i understand what you’re asking, there could be workarounds. For example, 75% of 60Hz is 45. If you set your monitor’s refresh rate to 100 Hz in NCPb and then use 50% in Vsync, you’re pretty close.

Is this worth doing if im already running 4k res, dx12, taa, everything maxed out and still getting between 35 and 45fps in most areas?

Im running a 12700k, not OC but undervolt to get stock performance at lower temps, 32gb ddr5 at 5800mhz (kit is 6400, but anything 6000+ is not 100% stable, maybe cos cheap msi mobo), and a 3080ti with custom OC curve (starting +15 at around 1V then +30 at the next step down, +45 the next etc).

Everything running pretty smooth and stable, but will this trick still provide better visuals and/or performance running at native 4k to begin with, or only really worth doing with lower res?

Never mind.

Just tried it. I think it’s pushing it too far. Graphics didn’t look any better, and i didn’t gain any performance. In fact, maybe still lost some fps even with dlss, and some things were way over sharpened.

However, it has opened my eyes to how well dlss can work in general, so I’m now testing native res again but with dlss on quality… higher frame rates and graphics look the same as taa to me. Winner winner.

On real 4K resolution in game DLSS is pretty good at “Quality” setting. This is for all games I tested so far. It’s when I play at 2K (1440p) than DLSS Quality start to be blurry.

Cheers.

Only thing I’ve just noticed is the issue people were saying about water… it does look kind of static for some reason… but most of the time i like flying over ground anyway, and the extra clarity you get when looking around using head tracking and still having high fps makes a big difference when you’re sitting a few feet from a 55" screen lol.

Definitely can put up with water looking less realistic when the rest of your view is so much smoother.

(nVidia) DLDSR at 2.25 has massively improved my visual quality, with 1080 27 inch monitor, I7 9700k, RTX 2070 Super 32 > 64 GB 2133>3333 DDR4 … quality like 2K or better and fps’s 50-90 on complex scenery with all ULTRA settings ! …

Currently over Las Vegas, going back and forth between TAA and DLSS/quality and comparing - I like DLSS better - slightly more aliasing noise, but sharper …

Comparing DLDSR settings DL 2.25 - 2880x1620 vs. legacy 4.00 3840x2160 scaling, appear very similar.

Not sure why there are not others reporting as good results as I’ve had ?

Now, fooling around with nVidia GeForce Experience-Freestyle, using filters - contrast, shadows, sharpening, color stuff, getting even more improvements on the “depth-realism”, though FPS drops from 60-70 to 40-50 over complex scenery. Can’t wait to see what DLSS 3 - DX 12 in SU 11 will be like. What is that stuff in visual option screen above DLAA options, etc ? Is it a beta ?

Maybe I should have looked like into this thread more thoroughly.
Turns out I was not using DLSDR correctly. There is a noticeable performance hit. No go for me.

Thanks look great 60 FPS on my 1080p, can’t believe no blur when using DLSS , the first time I saw this.

Doesnt get rid of the ghosting on the instruments though? In the meantime I’m back to TAA.

Rather than shooting for a crisp image across the board shoot what what in ‘real life’ looks like. As a pilot even on a clear day looking out of the cockpit is often hazy/blurry. That is what one should be shooting for.

Unless the visibility is limited I don’t recall looking outside the cockpit to be blurry/ hazy.Flown 152,172 and the Cherokee in real life.
Where do you fly?

All over…Southern Ca., Seattle area even Japan (Shizuoka).

not seeing ghosting, but i am on analog gauges GA plane, I probably need to check glass panel

Am I right in thinking resolution has to be changed in msfs after setting dldsr or this makes no difference?

yes you have to set the resolution the the sim settings

I tried this yesterday with a 2560 x 1440 screen, a 3070Ti and a AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. With both recommended options (2,25 and 1,75) I lose almost 15-20 FPS by winning some sharpness. But the loss of FPS is to high to me for bringing any benefit. I wonder why because I have seen a lot of videos where they don’t loose that much.

You don’t need this. You are already at 1440p.

Just use dlss quality

Why I don’t need. I thought it may also bring benefits by upscaling to 4K with DLDSR and then downscaling to 1440 with DLSS.

I don’t want to use DLSS quality due to the issues (bad quality) of instruments and it does not make sense in my case with a 1440 screen if I reach my FPS which I want.
