IMPORTANT: Graphic settings do not match the actual settings!

IF this is the case for everybody, then this bug could be candidate for the biggest blooper in history .
It is definitely a bug for some, maybe many, but I have also seen many beautifully sharp screen shots. These people, including myself, did not see low-fi visuals. I remember everything staying on ultra between different sessions.
So there also seem to be scenario’s where this issue doesn’t exist.

Indeed there are those that do not have the display settings issue and those that do. Not sure what determines that.

Is this issue happening only with the presets (low, medium…) or also when the settings are “custom”?

Also with custom!

Biggest blooper, not by a long shot … I once saw a game update format the drive they were on.

It seems inconsistent for me… One time I loaded in ultra and found the low quality buildings, but then the ultra quality appeared after temporarily slewing the aircraft away and back again.

Slightly more concerning is the suggestion on the bug thread that some graphical options are only correctly enabled by using the presets - we don’t have presets in the VR menu!

That is terrible. It is FSX beyond that detailed rendering border

Not sure if it has been written somewhere, but can you tell where this statement from Asobo is from? Zendesk?

Zendesk wrote it!

In your own ticket or is it somewhere in the FAQ?

@Jummivana could you please check if this is an acknowledged issue and this workaround is valid?
If so, I think a post in the News&Announcements would be great with some details, maybe even in a development update?

It’s really a bummer if this official response needs to be carried user-by-user instead of a public heads-up that some people might miss

  • CTD with FlyByWire’s A32NX free mod: Go to your Profile > Content Manager > Search for FlyByWire’s A32NX in the search bar. Once found, click it and press ‘Delete’ to uninstall it. It will now show up as Uninstalled in your Content Manager.

Concerns it also the Graphic in VR and the broken Antialiasing since the Simupdate 5?

It makes me ponder how many CTD are caused by locking this file, especially when a new update comes around.

It simply gets overwritten as needed.

I have no idea.
I’d hope to get some more information than just a workaround. Does support maybe know when it happens? Maybe they already have workarounds for VR as well but we won’t know if we don’t file a Zendesk ticket?

At least it seems like Support knows more about this issue than is available on the regular info channels so far.

I have seena nd can reproduce this issue at one airport EGNX. I cannot reproduce it at any other airport. Here’s my video at EGNX showing exactly what happens:

If anyone can reproduce this at another airport or location, then can they please share screenshots or videos?

That rendering distance was already start reduced with update 2 or 3. It starts with Trees LoD reduction. Also you can see when I landing on my airfield the runway is now blurry on approach and pop clear before I touch down. Such a shame :sob:

From what I’ve read, it appears that there are two distinct issues. One is that when you leave the game, your settings are on Ultra, but when you start the game, they are changed to low-end. The other is that your settings are actually on Ultra when you start, but you’re not being served with Ultra graphics, and the fix for that is to change them to low, apply, then change them back to Ultra.

I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but is it possible that when the MSFS servers are lagging that they might change your graphics settings to a lower option? For your convenience, of course.

Maybe this is where the performance increase came from

Obviously not.
