I think this is very unlikely for an international product.
A sufficient number of borders are disputed, so drawing a line in a particular place would run the risk that the Sim is banned in particular countries. For that matter, countries disagree about which countries are countries.
Unless (as happens with some international products) borders are moved to placate different country audiences, in those countries, but that’s a good deal of work.
FS2020 is an awesome work in progress, currently hooked on flying the Neo on short trips between interesting places and the world map is still a frustration. You can set filters for the map that help a bit but they are not persisted, have to redo them every time. Why not use a reduced version of Bing so that we are not forever switching to Google Maps? ILS frequencies in the airport details on the world map would be great as well, have to troll the web for approach plates.
I’m interested in a better world map too. Often times I think I’d like to fly somewhere very specific… no chance of finding that on the world map, so a lot of alt-tabbing to littlenavmap etc to see where I am. At least give us the options to turn on and off place names etc.
New Sim Pilot here. I was disappointed at the map as well. I was surprised there was no place names. I thought this ran off of Microsoft’s Bing Maps or something to that effect. I guess I expected something like Google Earth or Maps in satellite view.
I’m glad I found this instead of starting a new thread! I’d love to see Country and State/Province borders. As it stands now, it’s not that hard to get “lost” when zoomed in tight to look for a small airfield.
I’d like to see also option to show where you’ve flown, saved flights superimposed onto maps, Favs highlighted for quick reference, only relevant airports shown for craft you are flying (option) Who’s flying and where, ability to call up map and change flight plan during flight,
