Just downloaded AIG public beta and it’s a game changer in my opinion.
I’m sure that Microsoft and Asobo are grateful for all the effort AIG team did to make AI traffic look awesome. So let’s hope for cooperation, there is definitely a lot of things they can talk about ![]()
There was some very good news in yesterday Q&A with MS / Asobo regarding AI. While there will be small fixes in SU8 they finally admitted that the current functionality imported from FSX isn’t going to cut it and they intend to redo it from scratch. Work on new AI will commence in April so we will have to be patient but imho this is great decision.
I don’t know if they imported all of the FSX AI functionality or broke what they imported with other code, but AI behavior actually seems worse than FSX to me.
it is and they confirmed that in the last Q&A
I have been flying Microsoft Flight simulator since 1998 and AI Traffic has been a challenge on every release. For certain releases, part of AI systems was opened up to developers, so 3rd party tools were developed to space landing aircraft, reduce go-arounds, speed up taxiing AI aircraft and better manage ground instructions. I suggest the following fixes by Asobo:
- Realistic Takeoff, Landing and Taxi speeds
- Realistic landing glide slope for landing AI aircraft
- Gear down / up at appropriate times for AI
- Develop the ATC & AI Engine aircraft speed adjustments, longitudinal spacing and runway separation. For example, the ATC in real life can say “Descend and maintain (altitude); then, reduce speed to (speed).”. The sim currently does not include this for ATC. It does not factor in traffic sequence, particularly for landing aircraft.
There are many 3rd party devs, including myself who can help solve this, but there are a lot of SDK components that would need to be opened up. I really hope this is solved by the fall. Its been ignored for 20+ years.
On a Q&A earlier this year Asobo acknowledged that the current system is a clone of old, so I respect that. Really looking forward to updates
Msfs has really come a long way since I made this thread 3 years ago ![]()
Has there been any updates in this area for MSFS2024?
