In 1971, BBC Nationwide joined passengers on a flight with Yvonne Pope Sintes, Britain’s first ever female commercial airline to ask passengers “How do PASSENGERS feel about a LADY PILOT?” from the BBC Archive.
Yvonne inspired women to become pilots and break barriers, she was brilliant!

And still today there exists prejudice against female pilots! In the early sixties a group of women participated in astronaut training at NASA, and performed better than the men in some of the tests, it was to change nothing though and there were to be no Mercury or Apollo ladies. Perhaps closer to home for us sim pilots, during WW2 Air Transport Auxiliary women pilots sometimes delivered four engine bombers on their own, without any of the training received by regular RAF aircrew personnel. I think time has shown women to be every bit as capable as men at flying aeroplanes.

I’m pretty sure an airplane doesn’t care what gender you are, what political leanings you might have or your ethnic background.. it will try to kill you just the same without an ounce of prejudice or any feeling of pity or remorse.
