Does anyone know why it shows “SAFE” in the HUD? I don’t believe it was there always. It showed up after a recent update I think. In any case, I searched the manual and can’t figure it out.
I’m probably about to make a fool of myself but isn’t that usually when weapons are not armed?
The fact it’s in the altitude ticker track suggests it could be something to do with terrain avoidance though.
@Baracus250 good thoughts, thanks. I like the idea about the weapons. I’ll look for an “arm” switch next flight.
SAFE also appears on the Stores Management System page in the main display.
@Baracus250 and @Halikarnasus thanks for the help. You were both right. It is about weapons and it is also seen on the SMS page.
I found a “master arm” switch and upon selecting that it arms the weapons and “safe” changes to “arm” on both the HUD and the SMS page. So the mystery is solved now, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Of course weapons don’t do anything in the sim so it’s kind of pointless but at least I know what it is now.
NOTE: the master arm switch is on the lower-forward panel next to the COMS dials.
