They might well be working to improve it, but at this stage I honestly don’t think they have the technical knowledge of the aircraft and Airbus systems, or they don’t have developers capable of recreating these systems in the simulator.
There are so so many basic bugs and errors that have been reported for months and months, and it’s still full of them.
On a basic flight you can encounter over 20 bugs and errors without delving into detailed system depth.
I spend a lot of time flying the A350, PMDG 777, iFly 737Max, and the Fenix. While they each have their issues and quirks, they are all in a high quality ballpark. Maybe a slight nod to Fenix/PMDG but they are all pretty good.
In my opinion, Inibuilds is a pure money machine. They develop things that the community really likes. The graphical and visual skills are very high, the models are always up to date and look really great, system-wise it’s usually a bit better than default, but nowhere near PMDG or Fenix level.
As far as the error rate is concerned, ini is very high. You can see it on the A350… One update after the other and Discord is still full of errors and bugs. And the A350 continues to struggle with WASM crashes and bugs as the next unfinished plane is released, the Cessna 406. A plane that is really still in beta, they don’t even get the simplest optical bugs fixed for release.
I think their best aircraft so far is the A300, yes, I know many have performance issues with this and many other of their aircraft but I’ve never really experienced this myself.
Main gripes for me are external sounds, they are much too quiet on everything bar the A310. The A330’s in 2024, while ok, needing some FDE work, very easy to lift off (is this accurate?), very sluggish control reactions when landing (again, is this accurate?).
I believe they have much bigger teams than most other 3rd party devs, therefore can pump out stuff much faster. Definitely not PMDG level of systems fidelity but good enough if you want something to get from A to B without reading a 350 page manual before pressing a single switch.
To take off in an A330, you should need around 2/3 stick deflection (according to A330driver) so it’s definitely a bit sensitive there
As for landing, there is a dead zone on the roll axis in most ini aircraft (feels fixed in the A350) that prevents very small roll inputs. This makes them really hard to fly and is something I’ve been getting on at them to fix as it shouldn’t be there
The RR versions are fine to fly, but be prepared to do battle with the controls when landing. It can be laggy to respond to inputs. I’ve gotten fairly used to it now but a cross wind can end your fun.
The GE variants however have a strange dolphin like behaviour at cruise. I’m not sure if this has been fixed in SU3 Beta though.
The 2020 A350’s flew OK, the as introduced 2024 versions were almost unflyable. After numerous updates the A350 in 2024 is OK to hand fly. Not sure what the issues were. Maybe most customers who utilized the automation to the fullest extent never noticed.
I am a big fan of their aircraft. PMDG is probably even a bit better. Fenix aircraft have never worked for me performance-wise in VR (which is what I fly exclusively). They are the only aircraft that give me horrible performance, but since I don’t hear anyone else complain about it, it must be a problem particular to my PC system.
Fenix does have a reputation for performance issues, there have been a few posts here mentioning it.
It may be in your system, but I don’t think you are alone in experiencing it.
