I can’t seem to figure out how functional any of the specialized systems are going to be on these variants. I assumed they’d be more or less static but their description seems to hint otherwise:
Functional surveillance systems
Animated, gyro-stabilised camera
Aerial survey mode with GPS line tracking
Coastguard SLAR and AIS ship detection systems
-Interior surveillance ops station with photo capture support
Are ship detection systems active? Photo capture support leads me to believe there can be some kind of screenshot or photo export from the onboard camera module. That would be misleading verbiage if they’re static.
None of the streamed previews have shown functionality yet so I’m waiting to see.
I watched twotonemurphy’s stream earlier and I have to say: that plane needs a little longer in the oven. I look forward to it, it looks cool, but I really hope they take the time to get it right before launch.
Just like any a/c we work on, if something isn’t right or needs more tuning in the sounds department, please let me know constructively either here or via a DM, and we’ll take a look.
I know. I didn’t want to say it in my post, but exactly that. I’ll still be getting it, but I’m fully expecting it to need patches. Let’s hope Ini are a bit more forthcoming this time round.
From what Asobo has said so far, nothing purchased outside of the Marketplace will have career mode support, but I believe several developers have said they’re seeing if Asobo would reconsider that.
Sigh. What an unbelievably poor decision. There’s no competition involved in career mode so it seems all they want to do is bind people using an aircraft to a set of conditions/rules that are often arbitrary and poorly executed, while ignoring more important ones. And by doing this, they alienate a large subset of people just wanting to sim with a purpose using one of a myriad of great planes. I just don’t get it. Simplify it now and let the sim and devs breathe.
This whole forked dev process of having one foot in the marketplace and one out is frustrating.
That said, I’ll see how the early reviews come in before grabbing the Caravan II.
Gotta say, I find it interesting that they say on the iniBuilds store that it supports career mode, do they know something we don’t? Are Asobo/MS going to allow non Marketplace bought aircraft to take part in career mode? Otherwise, it could be false advertising.
Just picked it up and did a test flight. I was pretty excited for this because I love the beat up freight dogs.
Overall it feels like Carenado quality
Modeling & Textures 4/5
Didn’t notice anything off, interior could use a bit more wear and tear to feel lived in.
Sounds 3.5/5
Reverse thrust sound non existent
Normal thrust sounds good
Flight Model 3/5
It feels nice and heavy on the controls, especially roll
Pitch is a little bit twitchy
Single engine physics is non existent. I feathered an engine and it was flying like both engines were operating. There was no change in roll or yaw. That’s disappointing
Overall I give it a 3/5. Its like a Carenado plane. Looks nice but has a handful of quirks/ bugs that take away from the experience. For $25 with all the variants its a decent deal. It could be a 4/5 if the tune the flight model and add single engine performance physics.
I’m on MSFS 2024. I don’t really care for career mode because it has so many bugs currently. Plus with the announcement that only marketplace planes will be compatible I’ve given up on it. I don’t want to wait 3+ months for an update like I did with the CRJ
If you don’t mind, may I ask what is available avionics-wise? Can one select the default GNS530 instead of the GTN650 they have been showing around? I would prefer a Garmin that will work with my Octavi IFR-1 and the GTNs are rarely that. Thanks again.
