After obtaining my Scoop Endorsement I was able to do one fire fighting mission but now there are no more available. Does this have to do with the time of year and there not being any forest fires? Or is there something that I need to do in order to generate Initial Attack missions? Any help is appreciated.

If you did the “initial golden mission” then yes - you could have the problem of the season of the year. I heard that e.g. in fall there seems to be no fires. Maybe you could go more “south/forresty” places?
I saw some in the last days in madagascar and in california (ok last one is unfortunately not surprising ;( ) so be sure to unlock these regions of the career world map
Also - if you need to “travel” to a not-yet-discovered airport/location, just click on that airport and choose “Fast Travel” - it will cost some creds but allows you to discover a new region fast.
