Intel A770 Graphics Card (GPU) Discussion Thread

"In a rather unexpected move, Intel this week discontinued its Arc A770 Limited Edition graphics card, which was its flagship discrete graphics offering for desktops. Intel’s partners will continue to offer their Arc A770 add-in-boards (AIBs) with 8 GB and 16 GB of GDDR6 memory.

By now, there are Intel Arc A770 graphics cards from numerous AIB producers, including ASRock, Acer, Gigabyte, Gunnir, MSI, and Sparkle, so Intel does not really need to offer its own cards to ensure that its top-of-the-line product is present on the market."

The 16 GB LE was a good deal at @ $349.99 USD.

New driver is available. 4514 - Beta
Works fine for me in Windows 11 and MSFS.

Edit: 6/29/2023 8:50 PM EST Intel download site added.
Download the .exe.
Select “Clean Install”.

Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - BETA - Windows*?

This is the 22nd driver released.

I went to the Intel Arc support site with the following question.

Can an app control whether it is using Resizeable Bar or not?
The answer was that an app cannot.

You really don’t get that much an uplift with resizeable bar in msfs anyway. 2fps maybe

It’s not an app controlling it you’re editing the driver profile.

You change F00BA FOOBB F00FF to an enabled state.

Note that I have an Intel ARC A770 LE 16 GB GPU.

I can’t use Nvidia Profile Inspector; can I?

I don’t think so, there is another specific version for AMD. It’s like an advanced nvidia control panel

Edit: 7/5/2023 Amazon changed the price of the listing back to the original prices. Must have been a listing mistakes.

I didn’t but I wonder what would have happened if I
had ordered it. Would I have got it at the lower price?

Very surprised to see today, 7/4/2023.

Amazon dropped the price of the i9-13900K CPU
from $598.00 to $409.99 USD.

Amazon dropped the price of the i7-13700K CPU
from $418.00 to $383.99 USD.

i5-13600K unchanged at $309.99 USD.

I had myself convinced to get the i5-13600K to wait for the 13 Gen Raptor Lake Refresh (14th Gen Meteor Lake) but for $100.00 I will have to go from the 13600 up to the 13900.

I’ll get the 13900K, LGA 1700, Z790
and wait for the
15900K Arrow Lake CPU, LGA 18XX, Z890.

Skip the 13th Gen refresh.
Then upgrade MB & CPU then.

15th Gen Arrow Lake is reported to be a massive improvement.

That’s a reasonably good price drop. Just don’t forget the hidden costs of a 13900k which are more expensive cooling solutions and bigger power supply, if you haven’t already invested in those already.

The pricing intervals are intriguing.
I bet they’re trying to clear the 13900 inventory, when they do, they may drop the price of 13700 & maybe 13600.
Last I heard 14th gen was supposed to be unveiled in September, if so the clearance sale has to proceed fast.

Hello, has there been any leaks or official talks about a possible integration of XeSS?

Nothing that I have seen.

Maybe in FS2024.

There will be a lot of Laptops using the Intel A770M (mobile) .
May be hope from their usage of ARC.

I see, thanks, I do hope as well XeSS will be added, at least in MSFS2024, because FSR is really horrible

Upgrade of my PC from an i9-9900K to an i5-13600K.
Keeping the Intel A770LE 16GB GPU.

From:
i9-9900K @ 4.6 Ghz
Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO
DDR4 3600, 64GB (G.Skill)
A770 @ PCI3 3.0

To:
i5-13600K @ 5.1 Ghz
Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Elite AX
DDR5 7200, 32GB CL34 (G.Skill)
A770 @ PCI 4.0

1. Flight is still smooth in the C172 G1000, CJ4, 747-8.
2. No change in FPS. Limited to around 30 by the A770 GPU.
3. FPS remains the same from takeoff to cruise to landing.
4. The 15-13600K can handle multitasking okay.
Opened 11 apps and FS2020 was fine. It did not care.
5. The planes are more responsive.
6. Big improvement in the graphics scenery.
   Due to the 15-13600K & Z790 & DDR5 & Gen 4 NVme SSD.
   A770 from Gen 3 to Gen 4.
   More detail.
   More scenery.

Conclusion:
Very pleased.
Ready now for the Intel Battlemage GPU next year.

Future:
Skip Meteor Lake CPU, Gen 14.
And looking forward to the Arrow Lake CPU, Gen 15 & Z890.

TLDR for the following unless you are interested.

Statistics follows on RAM, GPU, & VRAM Usage

Congrats on the new kit and thanks for the detailed report!
Just a quick question: we can see the game does not go above 30 FPS (perfectly fine for a sim of course) just curious if there is a Vsync cap, if it’s a function of the HDMI cable used, or the CPU/GPU maxing out?
Thanks!

Thanks and sorry but I don’t know the answer.

FPS is the same whether FS2020 V-SYNC is on or off.
I use a DP to HDMI cable to my 65 " HDMI 4K TV.
The A770 GPU is always running at 99% to 100%.

The one thing to note about the A770 is that is produces its
smooth FS2020 graphics output regardless of what I throw at it.
i9-9900K to i5-13600K
Z390 to Z790
DDR4 to DDR 5, 3200 to 7200

2K to 4K, Rendering = Low-End to Ultra
Terrain LoD 200 & Object LoD 200 to T LoD 400 & O LoD 900

Many reviews of the Intel ARC GPUs is that the architecture
and its hardware is impressive.
The deficiency is in the driver software which has improved.

That is why I’m looking forward to upcoming Battlemage GPU.
