MSFS2024 pauses the sim and force opens the pause menu if the internet connection drops out for more then a few moments. I understand why; having an active connection is important to keep it running.
But it then doesn’t automatically resume when the internet connection returns; instead it stays in the pause menu. I have patchy internet access at certain times, mostly when I’m trying to do AFK long hauls. So when I get back to the PC and it’s still in the pause menu (the one you get when you press ESC) sometimes I’ve lost entire hours of flight.
Does anyone know if there’s a way around this, or if it’s at least something that can be/is being looked into? A way for it to pause without opening the menu, or at least pause it and then be able to resume automatically?

That’s an interesting (but annoying) problem, for sure.
It must be something in the sim that isn’t recognizing the reconnection.
I say that because of my experience with other server-client applications I use.
For example, If I lose my internet connection, Outlook will show a ‘Disconnected’ message. When the connection is restored, Outlook will reconnect to the Exchange server automatically.
It’s the same with our mapped network drive at the office. If I lose the internet, I get a message telling me the connection to the drive has been lost. When the internet connection is restored, the contents of the mapped drive are immediately available again. No need to manually reconnect anything.
I would submit this as a bug report. Maybe others are having the same problem and will add to it.
Whenever i lose connection and regain connection in flight, sometimes the menu that pops up will come up about 5-10 mins later and FORCE me back to the main menu.
IT says something like “Connection to fs24 servers unavailable, you will now be reverted to the main menu” or something similar. and you cannot stop this from happening even though the plane is still flying and the connection is fine.
Please fix this as it ruins about 20% of all my flights and it’s annoying having to lose all that progress.
