IRIS PC-24 coming to MSFS

The PC-24 does have one party trick that separates it from (most) of the rest - it can operate from rough strips!

There is no point in them doing this if they aren’t going to do the avionics right. Pass for me…

Well at least it won’t have the PC21 avionics. Both Iris planes so far are the same: The PC21 and the Texan are like clones. I was toying with the idea about how can they turn the PC21 into a PC24, besides adding 3 to the last number that is…

It will be a hard pass from me too, and this one will hurt because the PC24 is a wonderful plane, a bizjet that you can land on grass airstrips is a very nice thing.

Iris announced on Facebook today they are canceling their PC24 project due to PC-24 being one of the aircraft that will be coming with MSFS2024.

For those without Fb, here is the post:

It’s come to our attention via images online, that Microsoft Flight Simulator will be including their own rendition of the Pilatus PC-24 in their upcoming 2024 simulation.

As you can imagine, this is a significant blow to the team here who have been working hard behind the scenes on our rendition for MSFS 2024 later this year.

In light of these new developments that we’ve had to take the decision to cease further development on the product until further notice.

Instead for the moment we’ll shift focus to the PC-9 and CT-4 products for MSFS moving forward.

Note they don’t say cancelled per se, but put on ice until further notice. Personally I’m probably quite happy about a Carenado photorealism model with WT avionics, if that is what we will be getting instead. Also hope that IRIS will now have time to work on the promised update for their Jabiru!

It makes sense they hold off on the PC24 until they see what the other version offers and then go back to it if their version looks like offering enough differences to make it attractive to users.

Given they are a small (one man with contractors ?) operation they are unlikely to be offering custom bespoke avionics or super detailed flight dynamics and failures so there is a risk that their version will not be different enough to sell well. We will see.

One of their last updates in Discord said they were waiting see what avionics were going to be in the FS24 PC12, so I think the Iris offering was pretty far off still
