I still fly but I have to force myself to ignore the once more reduced tree/vegetation draw distance, which only draws trees/vegetation in a very limited circle around your position regardless of cranked up settings. I also try to avoid places where this becomes even more visible e.g. mountainous terrain with lot’s of tree cover or wide stretches of forest on flat lands.
I still fly but I have to force myself to ignore the periodically but regularly occurring performance drops introduced after the latest update.
I still fly but I would fly a lot more if those problems weren’t introduced for me (and many others) after the update.
It may sound strange, but i`ve locked the framerate, believe it or not, to 30fps, put Vsync on, and everything is fully stutter free and even smoother…
My TrackIr 5 is also very smooth this way, try it youself…
My flights over the UK, expect of course, Londen, are such an experience in my new Spitfire XIc, just incredible..
I’m an interesting case: I use GNU/Linux and only boot into Windows when I want to play a game-- so my Windows installation is very “stock”, with basically no modifications, and not much usage overall.
Yesterday, I decided to play Flight Simulator for the first time in like two or three months. So, I booted into Windows, got all caught up on updates, latest Nvidia drivers, Microsoft Store updates, and finally the in-game patching.
Over an hour later I’m finally in a flight, and… it’s running at ~20 frames per second, just sitting parked at an airport. I flew over some trees, and it dropped to 11!
So this performance issue is definitely something in the game itself, since I don’t even use Windows for anything else, hence it’s a very clean installation.
In any event, I shrugged and booted back into Arch: “I’ll try the game again in another month or two.” It kind of reminds me of every time I try to play “Minecraft” on the Switch: something new is broken. Contemporary hardware is amazing-- contemporary software, not so much.
I noticed something similar with my card GTX1080ti sat at my usual airport where I test my settings my card was using 8.5GB Vram, in the same flight scenario and settings, the card is now (post update) using 10.5 GB Vram, so no headroom if I enter a busy area. Not having the issues that users have reported with the stuttering and low FPS. I’m on a i7 2600K overclocked water cooled system, I suspected that it could be hitting a more modern machine looking through the posts.
Nope, still grounded since sim update 3 because the A32NX FBW mod is still not working correctly for me. Every flight I try no matter what version of the mod, it just wants to fly straight north. When I engage the AP, it doesn’t follow the route or the FP. Yesterday, one of my PFD screens mysteriously went black on me and I keep getting random master caution warnings that I can’t disable. Some people say the mod is working great since the update, but for me it’s a mess. I’ve tried deleting it and reinstalling it several times over the last few days and I’ve gotten no different results. Checked my content manager and everything is updated. Checked my livery mods too and those aren’t the problem. I’ve never had any issues with the mod until this update.
Welcome to the community PlushyLawyer341.
I note you joined the forum only 1 hour ago to enlighten with your above first posts. I take it that you are not actually flying (with this sim) after this update but I hope you will stay with us to make many more posts.
Yup, I have flown in almost a month but returned to this current version being very strange. Everytime I zoom in on the world map, my fps tanks. When I load up my flight, the sim seems fine until about 20 minutes later, my fps tanks again. In both scenarios gpu usage dropped to 20%.
My performance also tanked with the recent update, very frustrated i’ve just reset the app in windows and currently about 1 hour into a very laborious and tedious re-install, third in as many weeks.
I’ve watched the dev updates and always impressed with Jorg and the team and I do sympathize with their challenges but I really wish they’d concentrate on getting this thing stable and keep it that way, if that means bringing more staff in than do it.
I had high hopes for a more stable optimized update 3 but that ship has sailed.
Fortunately yes. Many short VFR trips, a few medium haul trips in the CJ4, then one long haul across the pond in the 747 (surprisingly, that went okay with that mess of a plane).
Could you load up 76T (Bishop) Airport and send a Screenshot of the built in FPS counter? I am currently investigating various Screenshots and data of people reporting bad (or not bad) Performance at that airport.
Would highly appreciate it.
