It seems like the “Wishlist” is where some great suggestions and community involvement go to die. Do you guys have an updated list of the top voted items? Are there actual meetings discussing these items? The community has no idea, because we receive zero updates. At this point, you should just remove the Wishlist because it is pointless and it gets peoples hopes up for nothing. Something as simple as “saving world map filters,” for example. Why has something as basic as this not been added in a Beta release? Does it conflict with something else? We don’t know, because you guys don’t talk to us.. no updates.. no “we are having a hard time implementing this because”.. “This wish does not jive with our vision for the simulator”.. something… It’s like you are allergic to positive reaction and community involvement.
The community sells this game for you, the community buys add ons, the community creates mods, records videos/streams and does the marketing for you! Do better and make it easier for us to do it for you! Make it easier for us to be excited about the sim. Make it easier for us to be on your team.
Spot on - very, very good question. How do we know what “Wish List” items have been considered; put in for adding and which have been thrown out as too complex or memory hungry?
Please could you, MS/Asobo compile a list of accepted’s and rejected’s.
Oh, and a reason why please would be excellent to aid understanding about what could be wished for and what not.
Hi @SmotheryVase665 — I understand that priorities are largely driven by Wishlist votes, and that part is communicated back to us. The issue here is that the OP doesn’t seem familiar with the developer updates, and honestly, the last proper one was back in November 2025.
So while items get tagged as “feedback‑logged,” there’s still no real transparency about what the team intends to do with them in the short, medium, or long term. Without regular updates, it creates a pretty clear disconnect between the community and the developers/MS. A bit more clarity around intent or direction would go a long way.
I also feel that many wishlist items asked for, especially in career mode, are ignored because at first this mode was not seen to be fit to be part of a Flight Sim. Many things were therefore not supported with high volumes of votes.
However, many of those suggestions would improve that mode no end and it would be worthwhile for someone to re- consider those please
It’s also a bit scary that MS/Asobo still haven’t resolved a lot of major issues with career mode. It’s far too rigidly structured to pretend to be close to real life. But its been well over a year, so what does that say to me? 2024 was so undercooked that the team at MS/Asobo may not be able to fix everything. I always get this feeling that some things are broken at a core level and would need a full rebuild to work rather than patches. The SU’s are great but as said before the lack of consistent communication has all of us that care enough to be on their forum scratching our heads and unsure if we’re just yelling into the void.
It also makes me wonder if they are “scared” of Career mode. Is it too complex but now they realise it’s popularity they can’t bear to tell us they are shelving it? I suppose if there had been a huge outcry at “remove this mode” they would have been more than happy to shelve it.
However, now that it is popular, they need to give it a ton of fixes and make it usable in it’s entirety.
I know I and others have made some very useful suggestions to enhance this mode in the wishlists but I do not see them anywhere.
Personally, I don’t think vote counts are a useful way of picking enhancements. All of them should be considered for their merits to the game.
I just saw another thread that made me think. It seems like career mode is separate in ways from the simulator itself. There are issues with aircraft in career mode that don’t exist for the same plane in free flight. The C90 came to mind, the avionics are broken in career mode, no HSI needle, AP issues and limited functionality but in free flight it works fine. Almost like the core sim and career mode were developed separately rather than one as an extension of the other. Like it’s 2 simulators in one bit only enough resources to work on one at a time
I understand the aircraft have to have bindings set up individually. This is what I was advised to do by a moderator when I could not get something to work. A long time ago now. I was told then that they were streamed differently into their respective modes.
Might be why the c208 is much more stable in free flight than in career mode.
I think the main problem is that those in charge either have a vision or keep getting sidetracked by new and shiny things they want to add to the sim and they keep springing these things on us as ‘surprises’ expecting us all to be ecstatic and forget all the wishes that we’ve made for things many of us would actually really like to have. I can’t help but notice that BAR events are now a thing and there isnt a wish list item for that. We get what they want us to get and some of the wishes do indeed get added but we also accept blame for things like METAR when that was the goal from day one it seems to me.
As for career mode - I think they just took it so seriously that its not working well and maybe can’t. I only tried it once and had tremendous trouble simply because I didnt have the external HUD activated with POI markers and such. I wish it had been more like ATS where airports had jobs and jobs were dependent upon airport and location and you could take a job or ignore that part of the sim completely and just go fly. The certifications could have been worked in like driving sims do it - you have to be certified to drive/fly that first. I don’t know – it just seems overly complicated.
and why does career mode have better weather? or at least different weather.
I have some theories on this. But it’s just speculation based on things I observed. I think most wishlist items will be implemented very slowly. Some likely not at all.
My theory
I have the feeling that fewer people are working on MSFS than before. A quick Google search suggests that around 250 people work at Asobo. According to their website, they’re also working on an unannounced game and plan to release a new one this year. And who knows what else they’re doing? Maybe a Nintendo version? Plus, they still have to maintain MSFS 2020. Suddenly, the workforce per game doesn’t seem that large anymore.
I also can’t imagine that the Xbox layoffs and budget cuts didn’t affect MSFS at all. Maybe they now have to be more profitable, which means less spending.
What does this have to do with wishlist items? Most wishlist features wouldn’t generate additional revenue. And looking at the Xbox division, it seems they’re trying to maximize ROI wherever they can. At least in the short term. That likely means fewer people working on released games, so development takes longer. With the huge backlog they had to go through, things probably got pushed back too. We’ll still see improvements, new features, and a few surprises, but likely at a slower pace than before.
That’s also my theory for why they haven’t updated the wishlist in a while. They don’t want to commit to anything.
And then there is game design. This is a big part of why IMO we won’t see fundamental changes to career mode. Like being able to access missions outside of career mode.
By the way, they’re still working on some really cool stuff. There’s an interesting discussion in the dev forums about twin turbine helicopters and how they’re improving the engine and clutch logic.
I think your theory is spot on. They have most likely been tasked with finding ways to implement AI since all these companies have invested so heavily in it. All at the same time of cutting costs, zero basing and doing more with less. I feel for them. I have seen it in my work place these last few years.
I think sometimes you just need to go old school though and at the very least keep your base community involved, and every once in a while fulfill a wish and give back.
I just read over the most recent SU5 beta release. It looked pretty lack luster..
Who needs staff to program when you can just have Copilot do it for you? You don’t want that billions invested in AI datacenters to go to waste, do you?
Exactly, this is my belief, too. And I could swear Jorg said as much in one of the Dev Q&A’s. Once they get to a more stable base code, they’ll start working on more wishlist items. They did the same thing with 2020.
AFAIK, the screenshot you provided is the latest that has been published.
As mentioned in an earlier post in this topic, you can see which wishes have been feedback-logged by using this search term, which gives an idea of what might be included in a future SU, CU or WU:
