I genuinely mean this… I appreciate this is launch day for 2024, but I am wondering if this could be on on-going issue with launching 2024 if/when the servers are unusually busy?
Or are we to take this on face value as a teething issues with the new sim coupled with a very high demand on the servers?..
The servers will never be this busy again. Literally hundreds of thousands are all launching the sim and downloading content at the same time. Once the content is downloaded its cached, so unless everyone decided to all re-install MSFS 2024 at the same time this won’t re-occur.
This is a poor start to the new sim. Surely MS would have known the amount of people who would try to use this on the first day.
shame !!! #asobo
Problem isn’t that if it’s going to be this busy again or not, problem is MS’s judgement on the requirements. They are pushing us towards this new thin client model, yet we don’t know how there servers are propped up for the task. From today’s launch, it doesn’t look good. Ms should have been very well aware of the amount of download they will get. It’s MS for god’s sake. They did the alpha to test the servers. Did they learn nothing from it?!!
Maybe this is a way of testing the server capacity??
why in the world, did they let everoby everywhere start at the same time??? - why did they not take advantage of the time and the rotation of earth. let every one start at 07:am local
There is a huge difference between a few thousands Alpha Testers testing the servers to around hundreds of thousands of people. Obviously they didn’t intend for this to happen, but its really hard to test for these amount of loads in practice. Perhaps they should have done an open beta test before hand to get an idea of the issues.
Sadly this is a very common issues with popular games which are live services, I cannot remember any AAA game in the past which had a live service which didn’t have some type of server and login issues on day one.
I guess because everyone would have moved to Kiribati again.
I’ll be honest, when I saw that everyone was getting access at the same time, I assumed chaos would ensue.
This launch is an utter failure, the game is not playable if it runs, every platform is crashing.
I would highly recommend to at least play the trailer while in this waiting mode. The gray background is really boring.
They need to use more servers. Just as world of warcraft. A usa and and eu server.
Yeah, that is not going to fly with me (Pun Intended). I am not going to wait in a queue every time I want to get on the Sim. I don’t care how many people are on. I PAID for a SIM not to wait in a QUEUE!
Lots of people seem convinced its a server capacity issue.
What if it’s actually a software problem and all the servers are sitting there mostly idle?
I think the queue screen saying “Too many people are trying to connect at the same time” is why people assume it’s a capacity issue, but you’re right it’s possible the servers aren’t under much load. In the end though, it makes zero difference to the user.
I have the same on xbox x
Loading queue, too many users are trying to connect at the same time.
Yep, no suprise at all
That was a big mistake launching it at the same time for everyone.
Utter rubbish, MS have literally many millions of users on Office365 Email and Teams every minute of every day. They’re well versed in how their servers/networks cope with large data and user bases. It’s because it’s a “Game” that only a bunch of kids and nerds are interested in and not businesses, that it’s not getting that kind of resources it actually requires. Doesn’t bode well going forward as a cloud based thin client platform.
