Issues with multiplayer

Me too. I have created a ticket 3 days ago but I have not heard anything back too.

Any contact or communications with the developer or Microsoft?

Funny they promised me direct contact on the forums then disappeared after beta test

Multiplayer worked ok at release but with all the data and traffic flowing on servers something is causing multiplayer to crash, work on one side but not the other etc

Sounds like packet loss or data collisions on server side or just way overloaded..

Time for Microsoft to add more servers, fix the load issues and bugs, and or let us run a server dedicated..

I didn’t have this issue days ago but today all day same problems as others..

Kept thinking my internet and router broke or pc broke. Also updated to windows 2004 build

When multiplayer worked fine, I was on 1909 build

Hey Skyhawk,

I opened a ticket in Zendesk 2 days ago and to my astonishment it was deleted 1 day later without any attempt to contact me!
So I opened it again. It is ticket #36838. It hasn’t been seen yet I am afraid.

Fixes:

  1. Make sure you both have Xbox Live
  2. Connect to the same region

Issue not resolved

No thats not the issue. It seems people have blocked ports and the port forwarding wont pen those ports if the ports are not opened by isp.

I definitely think for some of us it’s just a MS server issue, I was able to join a multiplayer flight with about 15 others yesterday. So in my case it does work, it’s just intermittent.

I called my isp and opened ports but nothing

Tested this last night again and still having the same issues. Friend and i were on the same server and it took 10mins of constantly getting dropped from group or not being able to see the anyone else online.

We initially loaded into the sim (all live options) and processed the group invites, it seemed to work for the first 30 seconds and then it just refused to cooperate, one of us would make the group and then soon after the leader would drop and then neither of us could see each other as online.
Eventually after about 10 mins of waiting and trying to group up it eventually connected and stayed but this is a bit of an annoying ordeal to go through every time.

I agree with you

I’ve also been having this issue and have attempted everything I can think of to solve it to no avail. I’ve had ticket #35498 open since Thursday the 20th and the only assistance they’ve attempted to provide so far was disabling and re-enabling the Steam Overlay (which has nothing to do with connecting to Xbox Live) so obviously it didn’t help.

I had to unfriend my friend and meet up at airport and now i can see him but unfriend him forst and then choose airport . I hope the patch fixes this issue .

My dumb, not friend, anymore kicked me from discord channel because I keep telling him in game I couldnt see him haLf the time..

It’s not my fault game is bugged and broken, but some people just don’t understand that.

Oh well there loss!

Me and my buddy having the same issues. We can both see (the same) other people in the instance. It’s almost as if being in a group penalises you but starting a game without that didn’t fix it either.
Fortunately I can usually see him but he can’t me (although this has been reversed on occasion) which is better than neither of us being able to see each other I suppose. I’m guessing it’s a server issue.

3 of us tried it last night 2 of us can see and fly together smooth as silk. we 2 bought it from microsoft store the 3rd bought it from steam. he can see everyone we see except the 2 of us. we all have setup our flight conditions identical and on same servers at the same runway. i wonder if its a steam thing. i didnt buy it from steam because on their sight description says its single player. any thoughts?

I submitted a ticket to zendesk as in the options menu under traffic I only have the options for “AI offline” or “OFF”. In the map menu under flight conditions, when I select “Live Players” nothing shows up. Selecting “All Players” shows multiplayer will populate multiplayer traffic on the map but when I load in I don’t see anyone. I am on the “West USA server” that has been selected automatically. I have a friend who lives in Iowa and we have both tried connecting to the same servers but we don’t see each other on the map in “Live Players” or “All Players” when selected. We have port forwarded as recommended in another thread to no success as well.

IMO I find it counter intuitive to have separate servers we connect to. They should have one “mega server” or we connect to our local region server and the region servers talk to each other like with other games I have played. To me the current server system limits the traffic to the world.

Had the similar issue

I posted a ticket on Zendesk.

We have all to raise this issue to the support team, and don’t forget to tell at what time it happened in order to find the event in the logs of their servers.

Kind regards.

Nah, me and the friend having the issue both got it from MS (him from the game pass, me from the store).

They answered to my ticket with this information:

If you’re having trouble with the Multiplayer mode please do the following (in this order):

BASIC TROUBLESHOOTING

  1. Download & Install the Xbox app from this page: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-game-pass/pc-games
  2. Reboot your computer
  3. Launch MSFS from the Xbox app

If the problem persists after that:

Xbox Multiplayer NAT type

Open the Xbox App on your PC and navigate to the settings button.

Click the Network tab and let it run its cycle.

Once it’s complete, you will see your Xbox Multiplayer NAT type and Server connectivity:

If there is an issue identified, follow the “More Information” link for further troubleshooting steps.

Make sure the Xbox Services are running automatically.

In the Windows search bar, type “Services”

Select “Services”

Finally, we recommend opening the following ports:
