As the title says, it’s impossible for me to launch any glider from the runway using a tow plane or any other towing vehicle.
I can’t even do it in the Activity Center (gliding, second activity). It seems the character who’s supposed to help keep the glider’s wings level either doesn’t exist or doesn’t appear. As a result, the glider tips to one side, getting one of its wings stuck in the ground and preventing the plane from starting its takeoff roll to tow the glider. I’ve tried with all the gliders, and the same thing happens with every single one. I can only fly them in airborne mode. Is anyone else having this problem? Help, please.

Can you provide an airport you are having an issue with ?
If any addons, have you disabled them ?

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Well, it doesn’t matter which airport or glider I use. Whenever I try a towed flight from the runway, it simply doesn’t work. The character responsible for keeping the glider’s wings level never appears, so the glider ends up tilting to one side, making it impossible to tow. I don’t think it’s due to any add-on I have installed. I’ve always tried to start these types of flights from the appropriate airports (those with a blue star) without any success. Even in flight training missions! In the “Gliding Course,” Lesson 2: “Aerotow,” the same thing happens, and I can’t complete that mission. I assume this should work regardless of the add-ons I have installed, so I think it’s a problem with the simulator. So, if you have any solution, I’d love to hear it, or at least for the game developers to take it into account in future updates. Thank you very much.
I could try that. But I don’t know how to disable Marketplace add-ons or the correct way to empty the Community Folder (perhaps by moving its contents to a different folder?). Could you tell me how to do it?
Test 1st with an empty community folder. To achieve that rename your actual community folder adding for example “_backup” at the end. Upon launch or re-launch of the sim, a new empty community folder will be created. After your tests and if you want to have your addons back, just delete the empty community folder and remove the “_backup” extension to your community folder that contains your addons.
If that test is successful it means one addon (or various) can be the culprit(s).
If above test did not fix the issue, then disable your Marketplace addons. To achieve that, go to Marketplace then My Library. Select your addons (I assume you need to go one by one) and use the “disable” option that should be on the bottom right.
Thank you very much. I’ll try the first solution and, if it doesn’t work, I’ll add the second solution. When I have the tests ready, I’ll write back here. You’re very kind. Thank you very much for your help.
I would say that the issue is not on MSFS side but on one of your addons side that needs to be updated (by reporting it to the 3rd party developer) to avoid impacting the base sim.
So what I would recommend is to try to identify the culprit. I don’t know how many addons you have.
If you have few, then you can add 1 back in the community folder at a time, start the sim and check if issue happens or not until it happens, so that you know it should be the last one you’ve added that causing the issue.
If you have many addons, then the more practical way to proceed is by batch. Let’s say you have 20 addons, add 1st ten. If issue does not happen, then remove them from the community folder and add the others 10 ones. If issue happens then culprit is among those 10 ones.
Once the culprit is identified then you don’t need to disable all your addons, just the one causing the issue and eventually until the developer of the addon fix it.
Thank you so much for the method of adding the add-ons one by one in batches to identify the culprit. My Community folder currently has 191 subfolders (many are aircraft liveries). So I’ll keep testing until I find the add-on that’s affecting the gliders. Thanks for your support!
Welcome !. 191 are a lot . Maybe focus on the ones that could potentially modify ground services (like airport). And if you can identify the culprit, share the information here so that it can benefit to others users having it installed and facing a similar issue.
Removing it from the Community folder fixes everything as it should. I’ve already contacted Orbx Technical Support to see what solution they can investigate and offer. Thank you so much for all your help.
Highly recommend to start using Addon Linker. You can move your addons anywhere you want in your PC. With AL it’s much easier to manage your addons than removing stuff from your community folder.
AL is also very easy to set up, plenty of tutorials in Youtube.
