Whoop , completed .. the 2nd plane that doesn’t like liveries is the cessna 172.
could be more but i had liveries for 3 planes only..
Unfortunately this isn’t working for me. The landing shows in the logbook, I am making sure I haven’t been to the airport before starting the flight, land and get exit runway clearance or announce my clearance where necessary but only random flights getting recorded. There is no pattern to this either that I can work out in terms of which ones record and which ones don’t. Up to 1200 hrs now, have landed at I reckon well over 500 airports but only 331 recorded against the achievement.
Just going to keep going!!
This is a hard task to achieve. I’m currently flying on a leg that will put me at 50%. Currently flying a Robin Cap 10. No Autopilot here. Gotta keep the plane well trimmed if you don’t want to be hand flying it all the time.
It also takes a long time on these slower planes.
Got all the easy one’s out of the way. Now have to do all the slow and no Autopilots.
Jack of all Planes.
I opened a ticket for this and the response wasn’t much more use than the very vague description in game.
But they confirmed that pretty much any mod will cause a flight not to qualify.
This includes liveries.
They also confirmed that having Dev mode will cause a flight to not qualify.
In my own flights I found that changing sim rate would also break an attempt and I stopped even opening the VFR map for a moment and avoiding any and all Sim-connect connections to external apps.
World Traveller.
Small uncontrolled airstrips are a pain. Whether the landing is registered at all seems entirely arbitrary. I am starting to think that some strips may be broken.
I started logging these flights myself and it’s odd but I see landings that are not registered in log book but which register as a landing at a new airport in pilot profile…and the opposite also. A landing registers into the log book but I need to land at that same airport again for it to get logged into pilot profile.
It’s all very random seeming.
I’m just finishing up this achievement now, I had a lot of issues with it but after purchasing (I had the gamepass version) and having a clean install I no longer have issues. I haven’t installed any liveries so perhaps that was an issue, also true to life difficulty. I can confirm that it is 300miles not 300 nautical miles. I basically used the same route a user suggested in another thread YCBA to YSTW using a RNAV 30R approach. This 261nm or 300.3 miles which makes it perfect for this achievement.
I think the only way anyone reasonably gets to 1000 hours, is to take off in the big tubes, set AP and get to cruise altitude, and leave for the 6+ hours that flight is, and just do that every day.
It’s been 5520 hours since FS2020’s release, so to get 1113 hours, you’re spending almost exactly 5 hours per day in FS2020 since release day.
been there… grinding for an achievement and overnighted a 747-8 a few times. Climbed to cruise, AP on, went to bed, woke up for approach. Just like IRL! ![]()
Pretty much makes logbook hours useless as a representation of experience though.
There have been some long flights, mainly UK to East coast US, but a round the world trip in a Cessna 152 certainly helped build the log book. I find flying GA much more entertaining than big jets and AP, building bush trips etc. A country wide lockdown has certainly freed up time to fly.
Love the “How slow can you go” idea. I recall flying in a 172 with a STOL kit and looking down to see cars passing me as I was flying along a 40mph speed limit road. I think I was down to 32kts, full flaps, max power, and pitched WAY up.
Night flight from Jacksonville FL to Mobile AL in Cessna 172 G1000. Working on the Jack of All Trades challenge. This is one of the planes needed to complete the challenge.
At the same time this will complete 50 hours of IFR.
This flight will bring me up tp 55% of the challenge JOAPs.
I did get a message stating that I accomplished my 50 of nigh flying ![]()
Great photos. Hope you managed to tick off both achievements in the same flight. ![]()
Me too, I only have 150 hours or so, but I have the impression that the sim “forgets” to log quite a few hours.
Had over 600 hours prior to WU4 when the logbook glitch occurred. Now I’m at 16 hours. Don’t think I’ll bother to try this one.
Do you have Dev mode enabled? Using dev mode prevents flights and hours from being logged.
Never had that turned on. There was a bug with one of the recent updates that caused some peoples achievements and logbook to be wiped clean. I don’t believe there’s any kind of recovery for it.
My reply was aimed at someone else. The bug with the disappearing logged hours is known, and they’re trying to recover the hours, just weren’t sure if they were able.
Just on this and some of the other acheivements, in particular World Traveller. This seemed to be bugged but has been corrected now (for me anyway). It hasn’t picked up all the airports I have landed at, but the achievement is now showing 430 so only another 70 to go.. grind!! A fun way i have found around building this up is by making use of some of the many add on bush trips available. A great way to explore.
For the Decathlon acievement this never seems to change and it just stuck on 80%. Guess i will just keep wating for a World Update and a new task to bunp it up.
On another note did anyone notifce that for every world update so far there has been a bush trip (or tour included), with the exception of the UK update where there was justa landing challenge. Or did i miss something?
Thank you and everyone else for all your insight on this “achievement”.
Yesterday, I finally completed Jack of all Planes. I was stuck at 95% for a long time as well, but I didn’t actually start persuing any achievements until about 3 weeks ago (After the apparent fix of the C172 G1000 not counting).
- Thank you for pointing out that 300 miles translates into the 260 nautical miles in the World Planner. This saved me a heck of a lot of time on my second and third attempts on all the planes.
- Thank you for identifying that you can have the AI co-pilot control both the plane and the radio. The AI stll crashed me on approach a few times, so I now always take control for landing. Being able to use the AI Co-Pilot for the ICON A5 and other non-autopilot aircraft is a HUGE benefit. The AI will follow the flight plan waypoints laterally. It has difficulty with the vertical.
- Thank you in a BIG way in identifying that closing the checklist UI window changes Assistance Settings from “True to Life” to “Custom”, thus negating the current any further attempts to progress the achievment until you change it back to True to Life. I left all UI windows opened if they poped up, and just minimized them. A small visual price to pay in order not to waste 3 hours.
- Thank you for pointing out that ALL mods must be removed. I initially only removed the 3rd party liveries. On my third attempt I removed everything, which included all the Working Title mods, DA62, DA40NG, C208B, A32nx and Salty mods. (Using the AI co-pilot in lieu helped a lot)
- I could still run the AFC Bridge for my Bravo Throttle. It was the only file in my community folder.
The Jack of all Planes achievement was a good catalyst in getting me to try all of the default planes. I enjoyed getting to know each plane. I would’ve otherwise just stuck to the few airframes that I know.
Again, I thank all of you that posted your tips on completing this achievement.
Nearly there. Only 30 more airports to land at and World Traveller will be complete. Then only 1 Weekly Activity to wait for and Decathlon should be in the bag as well. This has been a real journey and thanks for the messages of support along the way. World Traveller does not always capture every airport landed at, (I have over 900 landings recorded in the log book) although since the last few updates this seems to have been working. The weekly activities as we all know by now are not weekly, so the next World update should help with this.
For anyone stuck on World Traveller such as myself i have just found this really useful piece on completing it.
Thanks to @Zathrus63
