Runway markings have jagged edges even on highest texture quality. All mods are disabled and developer mode is off. Screenshots are taken from KASE but this happens at all airports. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Small images blown up larger for display on the runway? That would cause aliasing issues like that. Might not be much that can be done other than try 3rd party replacement marking packages from the .to site.
In the game settings, try turning anisotropic filtering to it’s highest setting and see if it improves.
Set it to 16x and there was no improvement. Shouldn’t anisotropic filtering only affect the bluriness and not the resolution anyway?
That was my thought too, but it seems like it looks fine for most people. Upscaling all the relevant textures to 16k did make it look a bit better, but it still looks off.
Same here, its really plagued all over the game, every runway marker is jaggered like this. Im on ultra settings everything maxed out including anisotropic settings, except TLOD.
I have to max out TLOD for it to start looking normal, and not even perfect and its extremely taxing on the frame rates. Its not fair that other people are using less than average settings and not getting this issue, but for some reason im getting this issue even when I have maxed out almost every setting.
Surely I cant be the only one.
Urgent help needed please.
Might be the same as this bug. You can vote for it.
I found the culprit. Its the DX11! For some reason using DX12 solves 90% of the problem I was having with jagged edges on runways, the other 10% is becuase I use TLOD thats way low such as 60 not something like 200, but I am not going to sacrifice more fps for a straight line that is bugged by DX version and Microsoft. I think DX11 may be slighly less stuttery but not worth the flippin jaggered lines I am seing so I will keep to DX12 and call it a day. Thanks Microsoft for ruining this game for me!!
I’m already on DX12 so that’s not a solution for me. I think the issue is deeper than that.
Did you notice any changes after updating your graphics driver? Just wondering if the driver version or custom driver settings (like Nvidia control panel or whatever it’s called today) might have an impact.
I did have problems with blurry runways when flying over an airport and looking down. But I can’t remember ever having seen those jagged lines. I’m on DX11 but definitely not on a current driver level.
I must clarify that yes the issue is deeper thean just DX version, DX12 just helps signifcantly but not perfect. I have amd card RX6800XT and have latest drivers still the same issue. To be honest I have given up looking for more solutions at this point. Maybe someone can find a solution soon.
I’ve noticed how one day the ground texture on the runways and terrain will look nearly perfect with incredible draw distances and near perfect photogrammetry one day. And the next day it looks like the LOD, draw distances and ground texture clarity has taken a hit.
I’m quite sure this is server related. Because the performance and visual fidelity varies noticeably from one session to the next even if you fly the same locations. One can only hope. The servers must be getting severely overloaded, especially now that they have to keep the 2024 release on schedule.
