Didnt MSFS2020 have jetstream on initial release? What happened to it? Was it removed because the xbox cant handle it?
I’m pretty sure he’s referring to the Jet Stream, I vaguely remember something about this at launch time.
Jet Stream as in high-altitude, high-speed wind corridor? I think it’s still there.
I’ve always wondered if it was ever going to be in game. The Jet stream should definitely be shown on the world map in that case. It would really be advantageous to exploit it in flight planning. Though I swear I’ve had moments that I’ve maybe skimmed it at times.
They’re there, you just need to display the filter for high altitude winds, then look for the high speed and their direction, then just make a flight plan that goes through it.
Do jet stream visible in real world through weather sensors as well?
Here you can check it out:
Still there. The NAT tracks are updated daily on Volanta.
Soon after I made my comment I googled it and saw there’s real tracking on it. Looks like it always runs in a West to East direction. It changes constantly to.
You can get a pretty good idea just looking at the cloud flow in the world map. The jetstream pretty much mirrors the upper level highs and lows. The wind filter in the map is a nice touch for planning though.
Isn’t that only for north Atlantic, though?
Yep. North Atlantic only. As far as I know, those are the only tracks that are set daily for quick movement over the Atlantic(or any ocean). They’re posted every 24 hours. Not sure exactly what time they change though.
no..there was a jet stream layer
