Jurassic World Archipelago by Orbx

Amazing, just found out is is coming end of August:

There will be dinosaurs to be seen and we can explore these islands: Isla Nublar and the five islands of the Cinco Muertes Archipelago: Isla Sorna, Isla Matanceros, Isla Muerta, Isla Tacaño, and Isla Pena.

They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, that they didn’t stop to think if they should…

I know they mentioned this including specialized liveries, but I need someone to finally make an Augusta A109A for the sim!

I’ve been wanting something like this in MSFS ever since MSFS2020 first came out. This is great! I’m just surprised it isn’t being released as an official first-party add on. Of all the movie crossovers with the sim, this was a no-brainer.

I can hear the John Williams score in my head just from looking at that image!

Since this addon is fully licensed with Universal Products & Experiences I wonder if a score could be involved

If they do, it should have one seat with two identical seat belt ends!

Which I never realized until I was far older is a metaphor for the all-female dinosaur population “finding a way” because Dr. Grant’s seatbelts are two “female” ends that end up being tied together :exploding_head:

Ran a comparison between the recently released Sikorsky S76C++ by CowanSim which is very close the AW109 that @Zadma posted above.
It would be awesome to have a 109… she’s 10 kittens faster so getting to the islands from the mainland in no time

I wonder which developer might tackle that bird…

The AW109 and S-76C are both popular medium-sized, twin-engine helicopters, but they have distinct characteristics. The AW109, particularly the GrandNew variant, is known for its speed and agility, while the S-76C is often favored for its cabin space and more robust construction, making it popular for VIP transport and offshore operations.

Here’s a more detailed comparison:

AgustaWestland AW109 (GrandNew):

  • Design: A light, twin-engine helicopter, often favored for its speed and maneuverability.
  • Engines: Typically powered by Turbomeca Arrius engines.
  • Performance: Can reach speeds up to 168 knots (193 mph) with a range of around 464 nautical miles.
  • Capacity: Can carry one pilot and up to seven passengers.
  • Typical Use: Executive transport, law enforcement, emergency medical services.
  • Price: New AW109 Power helicopters can range from $1,395,000 to $3,650,000.

Sikorsky S-76C:

  • Design: A medium-sized, twin-engine helicopter known for its spacious cabin and rugged design.
  • Engines: Typically powered by Turbomeca Arriel engines (S-76C++ variant).
  • Performance: Cruises at around 155 knots (178 mph) with a range of about 400 nautical miles, depending on payload and conditions.
  • Capacity: Can carry two pilots and up to 12 passengers (depending on configuration).
  • Typical Use: VIP transport, offshore oil and gas operations, search and rescue.
  • Price: The average hourly rental rate of the Sikorsky S-76C Plus is around $5,850 USD per hour.

Key Differences:

  • Cabin Size:
The S-76C generally offers a larger cabin than the AW109, making it more suitable for larger groups or for accommodating more equipment.

  • Performance:
The AW109 is generally faster and more agile, making it a good choice for time-sensitive missions.

  • Typical Use:
The S-76C is often favored for offshore and heavy-duty applications due to its robust design and larger capacity. The AW109 is often preferred for its speed and maneuverability in roles like law enforcement and emergency medical services.

In summary: The choice between an AW109 and an S-76C depends on the specific needs of the user. If speed and agility are paramount, the AW109 may be the better choice. If cabin size and ruggedness are more important, the S-76C is likely the preferred option.

Does any one already bought it who can share pics..? i mean they have videos and photos of everything besides de airstripes/airports/helipads.. Looks very promising.. Something differente would be nice flying from Panama to Nublar international..

It’s not out yet.

There’s people on the orbx discord using it. There is mention of having to update orbx central, perhaps something to do with that?

Oh, OK yes it is out! They just didn’t update the full page info about it on their website with a buy button but the homepage shows it available now.

EDIT: to clarify, this page is what I was looking at first. Still says “keep me updated” but below that it does say in very feint grey “now available”, but it’s still not actually clickable lol: Jurassic World: Archipelago by Orbx Studios ). At least I did get an email!

Base pricing seems reasonable, could be worth a look.

So that’s the same PAC-750 that they haven’t been updating (much) for people that bought it 2 years ago?

Got it  lovely. dinosaurs <3

Do the dinosaurs follow or attack you?

Its pretty static and lifeless but anyways its fun. Especially for a fan. Its still a flight simulator

next month JW Evolution 3 will be released <3

Just started a flight from Isla Sorna east airfield, then exited the a/c and walked east towards the lake…

some VR impressions… love it
