Just Flight announced Piper Tomahawk

I loved the one from Alabeo for FSX - there was something about it that made me want to fly it.
I hope the JF one will be as good. Or maybe I’ll wait until Carenado updates the old familiar one

Why is it so traumatic to fly in the Tomahawk? Isn’t like the piper equivalent of the Beechcraft skipper?

Apparently it was designed so that the student had to forcibly use input to get out of a stall, rather than the aircraft getting itself out of one with speed; so much so that its stall crash rate is 3x that of other comparable trainers.

I’ve heard it can spin when it stalls

I soloed in one of the first off the assembly line, prior to the AD that mandated additional stall strips. In 1979 Piper modified the wing, adding two additional stall strips to the existing two. (I got my PPL in 1978.)

The stall in the Tomahawk is quick, and the aircraft drops the stalled wing quickly, which can lead to a rather violent (and disorienting) spin. An extra pair of underwear should be carried by all Tomahawk pilots.

That’s to ugly for my liking, I will pass this one.

In my pilot training in 1991 this was the only plane I’ve flown that almost became part of runway 6 at airport N69 on a training flight doing T&G’s. Needless to say I only look forward to flying this aircraft again virtually!

lol, had similar fun taking my checkride in the Tomahawk around that same time, the short-field landing on a hot humid day with a pretty serious passenger load between the two of us turned into a quick elevator ride to the pavement when I pulled the power

Lucikly I still passed, probably because the examiner couldn’t face the thought of having to ride in that plane again…

Really looking forward to flying this again in the sim

In case you missed it, we recently shared some new screenshots of the Tomahawk: Just Flight - PA-38 Tomahawk (MSFS)

I liked the old alabeo/carenado Tomahawk in FSX and flew it a lot.
This one looks good too so the first one out of the barn gets my dollars

A beauty. And I will own it.

I believe you are mistaking the Just Flight Piper Arrow with the Carenado Arrow. The JustFlight aircraft don‘t include Pilot models (but yes the Carenado Pilots are ugly).

Carenado has these two iconic guys always sitting inside the cockpit of every single one of their airplanes (but they can be removed with one click of the EFB).

The JustFlight Piper Arrow shows this low polygon pilot model from the outside view that looks way worse than the Microsoft Flight Sim pilots that can be added to the cockpit. Unfortunately this ugly pilot figure cannot be removed and also not replaced by another FS20 pilot figure.

A no-brainer … this bird is going to join my hangar!

Any updates on this bird? I’m itching to fly it!

Me too. I imagine they are waiting for SU10 to come and go.

Development work is progressing well and we’ll have more to share in a week or so.
